The Shania Twain North American Online Fan Club (STNAOFC) has decided to use its annual fundraiser to help America’s Second Harvest and the Kids Café, two charities which have been supported repeatedly by Shania Twain in the past. Shania has once again been snubbed by the Country Music Association, for their CMA 2004 Awards Show Shania is however going to be a "guest host" during the broadcast, and perform! Shania's Mercury site has announced a release date for the single: SEPTEMBER 7th!!!! Billy Currington, one of Shania's duet partners said of the superstar...."She was so gracious and kind. Thanks to Corinna of Channel 3 News in Timmins, has posted this update on the STNAOFC message board:

Hi All!
Just got off the phone with Lazslo Barna, the Producer making the new movie about Shania. On Friday the Province of Ontario announced a one-million dollar contribution to help pay for the made-for-t.v. movie. Barna says the money wil make a huge difference because the movie is NOT an inexpensive one....ie. will involve choreography, period cars, period costumes, etc. The movie will chronicle Shania’s life from age eight, and is based upon Robin Eggar’s unauthorized biography – a book not officially endorsed by Twain. Twain herself has had no say in the movie production, but Barna suspects she knows about it. Shooting on the movie will begin on September 20th, and will last 5- and- a half weeks. The movie will be shot in Timmins and Sudbury. Barna wouldn’t be specific on just 'what' or "who" would be shot in Timmins. The talk is that most of the filming will be done in Sudbury, but Barna wouldn't confrim or deny. The CBC-CMT joint venture should appear on the CBC in Canada sometime in 2005. p.s. He says they haven't found their Shania yet....but are very close Cheers!!

0408.14-Shania's movie to premiere [ACCTOP40]:

I Heart Huckabees, the movie in which Shania Twain makes her acting debut with a cameo playing herself, will have its world premiere during the Toronto Film Festival, which runs from September 9th through the 18th. That's fitting, considering that Shania's Canadian. According to Variety, I Heart Huckabees stars Dustin Hoffman and Lily Tomlin as detectives who are hired by an environmental activist to investigate why there are so many disturbing coincidences in his life. The cast also includes Jude Law, Naomi Watts and Mark Wahlberg. To view the trailer, click here. The movie also debuts in selected cities in the United States on October 1st.

0408.10-STC anticipating bigger Con in '05 [Daily Press]: With attendance nearly doubled at 67, organizers of the second annual Worldwide Shania Twain Fan Convention are declaring the event a success. “We were three people short of doubling our numbers over last year,” said Tracy Hautanen, event organizer. “If we continue to double our numbers, we can anticipate a lot more people next year.” The event, which lasted four days, was packed with social events and sight-seeing tours relating to the country superstar and her home town. “We kept our guests extremely busy from the moment they arrived until the moment they left our city,” said Hautanen, customer service manager to the Shania Twain Centre. At Sunday’s farewell brunch, Hautanen said she inquired about return visits from all those who attended this year’s convention. “They all indicated they’d be back.” Hautanen credits Twain and her management team for the success of this year’s convention. “Shania made sure her stage from her Up! tour and her bus were here on time for exclusive tours for our guests,” she said. “We held a Much More Music Video Dance party for them and gave them the opportunity to dance on her stage. It was a rare opportunity and one I know they appreciated.” Another treat for this year’s attendees was meeting two of Twain’s band members, drummer JD Blair and fiddler/guitarist Cory Churko, Hautanen said. More countries from around the world were represented at this year’s convention, Hautanen said. “It was interesting to hear about the Up! tour from their different perspectives.” Planning has begun for next year’s convention. “We definitely will have our hands full trying to top this year’s event in time for next year,” she said. “But we’re looking forward to it.”
