0608.30-Shania supports fallen
police dog monument:
The
Daily Herald reports....Crime-fighting dogs will
soon be getting their due, thanks in part to country music star Shania
Twain. Money is being raised to create a national monument honouring
police dogs that have lost their lives in the line of duty, and Twain has
kicked in $5,000. Saskatoon Const. Doug Marianchuk, who is behind the
initiative to create the memorial, confirmed Twain's donation. He said the
native of Timmins, Ont., was contacted about the project by an Ontario
Provincial Police officer. The monument will be built at the RCMP police
dog training centre in Innisfail, Alta., which is about 80 kilometres
north of Calgary. Marianchuk said he wants to create ''something that's
always there to honour the dogs in the future.''

0608.21-Shania Labor Day
special
[Net
Music]:
In 1993, as two members of Mercury Records
experimental effort to launch three new artists at the same time titled
their "Triple Play," Toby Keith and Shania Twain began their superstar
recording careers at the exact same moment in time, March of 1993. The
third member of the Triple Play, John Brannen, never caught on and soon
faded away, while Shania and Toby rolled on separate paths to country
superstardom. Their amazing stories of how they each arrived to the
highest ranks of country music are chronicled, and their greatest hits are
played in the two-hour COUNTRY GIANTS Labor Day Weekend special produced
by United Stations Radio Networks and Country Forever Productions.
So be sure to check your local radio stations Labor Day Weekend.

Banks Hurricane Relief efforts last year. The plaque reads:
"Thank you for being part of the solution Shania Twain. Your support of
America's Second Harvest - The Nation's Food Bank Network in the aftermath
of Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma demonstrates the depth of your
commitment to end hunger in America" To read

0608.15-Fan Con 4 a success
[Timmins
Daily Press]:
According to reports from fans on the
STNAOFC Board and on the
STC Board everyone had a great time. The Daily Press interviewed fans,
and Tracy from the Shania Twain Centre....."Every
moment was great; I couldn't pick just one," said Jeffrey, who also won
first place in the trivia concert. "But just walking through the centre
makes you feel closer to her, like you know her more." For Shania
Twain Centre manager Tracy Hautanen and her staff, it was a long week,
including two trips to and from Toronto to pick up and drop off those
heading home via airplane, but Hautanen said it was still a very
successful event. "We consider a convention a success when we see people
come back after their second, third and fourth time, and they leave the
farewell brunch saying they will see us next year," said Hautanen. "I
didn't hear anyone say they weren't going to try and make it back next
year," said Hautanen. One of the highlights of this year's convention for
Hautanen was the generosity of the visitors. Each year the fans take it
among themselves to collect money to donate to the Porcupine Food Bank. "I
was overwhelmed by the amount of money the fans collected, "she said of
the more than $1,000 that was raised. "In four years they have managed to
raise over $3,500." Fans say they collect the money for the food bank in
support of the number of food-related charities Shania herself supports.
Hautanen said they are already planning next year's convention, which fans
were inquiring about before they even left this year's event. "If fans are
eager to come back, we have to ensure that it is another exciting event
for them to attend," said Hautanen. While there is no word yet as to what
next year will entail, Shania Twain band members J.D. Blair and Allison
Cornell, who participated in the weekend's events, have already expressed
an interest to return. "They are both very professional and friendly
people," said Hautanen. "J.D. and Allison truly represent the kind of
people Shania surrounds herself with." But for many of the fans who have
returned year after year, it becomes more about seeing each other as
friends, rather than simply as fellow fans. "I just want to thank Shania,"
said Jeffrey. "Without her we never would have come here and we never
would have met each other." Over the next year the STC will
be announcing plans for Fan Con 5.
0608.12-Happy Birthday!!!:
Shania's son Eja turns 5 today. Happy Birthday!!!
0608.10-STC Fan Con 4 Updates:

The Maple Leaf Hotel in Timmins was finally demolished yesterday. As
Shania fans know Shania performed at the Hotel when she was growing up in
Timmins. Fret not Shania fans, The Shania Twain Centre has preserved some
of the interior of the Leaf and has set up a
new exhibit. We can thank Tracy from the Center for preserving a piece
of Shania and Timmins history for every one to see.
0608.02-Shania stops in

program with the school board. Shania didn't stop to talk with the local
media. You can see Channel 3 News' story about Shania short visit to
Timmins. According to the report, Shania left Timmins to go to a fishing
camp. So the Shania sighting at Toronto Airport on June 21st was true
