Daily Press]:
Beginning
at exactly 6:14 p. m., the first two runners will take the torch from the

hometown crowd, but we have not asked her to perform. "However, she

0912.27-Shania's Christmas
Message
[OFC]:
Merry
Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!! I've been in the North Country of
Ontario, Canada and, after a crazy drive through a snowstorm to get here,
I finally made it North for the holidays to take in the spirit of a great,
white Christmas. What would normally be a two-and-a-half hour drive took
over seven hours with several accidents along the way. We experienced dead
stops of long waits during whiteouts. Miles of vehicles were lined up
bumper to bumper, blanketed in snow from hours of sitting and waiting for
news of what was happening up ahead. Very scary driving conditions, and I
really felt lucky to have made it safely in the end. It was centimeter
after centimeter of snow falling for hours on end. Even we Northerners can
only cope with so much snow all at once. I have personally never seen such
a crisis just over falling snow, but this snowfall was an exception. We
normally cope pretty well, and falling snow is just a part of another
winter day, but this storm was a doozy! To read more check out the

"It's an immense honour for me to have been given the opportunity to be an

Shania
posted this on her official website:
Dear Friends,
First off, thank you for all the kind birthday
wishes. I had a fabulous day with my family in Canada, ending with a
surprise fireworks display.
I hope you enjoyed my “recovery and discovery” travel montage from the
last several months. I took great pleasure in sharing it with all of you
as a “thank you” for your support.
Now it’s onto more excitement over the next few months, leading up to the
New Year. I’ll continue to keep you posted periodically on what’s going
on, as I continue to live and love each day, indulge in the joy of being a
mom, continue writing, traveling, and keeping myself inspired.
The pic is from my recent trip to Chicago sitting in as a guest judge for
American Idol. I had a blast and was touched by the warm welcome that
Simon, Kara, Randy and Ryan extended to me. I can’t wait for you to see
it. I loved Chicago! So many fantastic buildings, it’s super clean, has an
interesting history, and the overall beauty of the place makes it very
special. I also discovered “Frango” mint chocolates. Yum!
Again, sorry for the bad quality of the photo. I’ve gotta get Fred a
better camera!

0909.01-Shania Idol [People]:
Shania
filmed her segment on the hit show American Idol. Shania was one of many
guest judges appearing on the show to fill in the open spot left by Paula
Abdul. Shania was said to have had a great time. Shania's segment will
probably air sometime in January. From People Magazine...“She’s
loving American Idol. She’s having the best time,” says a source close to
the singer, who is filling Paula Abdul’s vacant seat during auditions
Monday and Tuesday in the Windy City. “She and Simon have a really great
rapport with each other. They’re funny
together.”
Cowell isn’t the only one having fun with Twain, 44. “The crew loved
working with her,” says an Idol source. “Everyone thought she was a great
addition to the judges’ table. She showed up in good spirits and had a lot
of fun. She was clearly really excited to be a part of the day.” Twain’s
stint on the talent search capped an unusually public week for the
typically private singer, who last week finally opened up about her
relationship with Thiébaud. “She’s the happiest I’ve seen her in years. I
know [he] has a lot to do with it,” says the Twain source, adding, “She’s
really pleased to be in the public eye again.” After finishing her Idol
judging Tuesday, Twain will head home to Switzerland, where her son Eja,
8, is in school. Says the Twain source, “She’ll continue writing songs and
enjoying life.”

Speaking publicly for the first time since appearing
at the Country Music Awards last November, country star Shania Twain tells
fans she has a surprise for them on Aug. 28 – which, not coincidentally,
is her 44th birthday. "Hi everyone, Shania here," says Twain,
sitting in her yard at her home in Switzerland with two of her dogs.
"First to start off, I want to thank you for all the beautiful birthday
wishes for Eja's birthday," she says, referring to her son, who just
turned 8. She then adds: "Secondly, if you haven't already seen on my Web
site, for August 28th on my birthday, I will be giving you a small gift of
thanks for all of your support over the last year ... You've been really
wonderful, thank you so much." And motioning to one of her pups, she signs
off, "And Dolly thanks you, too. We'll see you soon!" "It's not new music,
but it's a piece that Shania put together of what she's been doing for the
last year," says a source. "It's definitely a totally new side of Shania
that no one's ever seen." The source adds that Twain is also posting a
personal letter, much like the one she posted for fans on her site in
June, but with more details

0906.12-Shania writes open
letter to her fans
[OFC]:
Dear Friends,
I am so excited to be writing to you personally again after so long.
First I want to apologize for the delay in releasing new music. Music is
the basis of our relationship, after all, and I realize I'm not holding up
very well on my end of the relationship! But music has a mind of it's own,
and is ruled by a writer's emotions and state of mind, not by a time frame
or wishful thinking. I wish like crazy that I had new music by now since I
dream of how fun it would be to see you all again out on tour with new
songs to sing, but as most of you know, I have been side-tracked slightly
over this past year.
The personal issues that took place just over a year ago have been well
documented, and there’s no need to go into more detail here. Since then,
I've been inspired by my pain to write and use writing as a therapy
through the suffering. I truly wouldn't wish this on anybody as a means to
get inspired, but it's been a productive period with so much emotion
trying to find it's way out. However, there is no telling how long it will
take me to actually finish these songs and record them so they can get out
to you.
As many things as there have been to write about through this difficult
time in my life, healing is serious business and has taken a lot of the
wind out of my sails, slowing me down at times. As you know, I am a mom
and all my energy goes to making sure my little man is healthy and happy
in every way. This is a full time job, as any parent understands, but
especially difficult when you are battling your own personal crisis at the
same time while trying to spare your child of being affected by your own
suffering.
One time when I was having a weak moment listening to some sad music and
sobbing and slobbering over my computer’s keyboard, Eja walked up behind
me and asked me why I was crying. He wasn't sad at first--just totally
surprised to see his mom crying (he is seven and never saw me cry before),
and didn't know what to make of it. During this intense period, I was
managing to hide my devastation from Eja and cried only when I was alone;
but this one time was just too hard for me to control and I broke down. I
was quick on my feet to answer him though and told Eja that music was very
powerful and can make people quite emotional. It can make you want to
dance, feel angry, happy or sad and that THIS this song was sad and made
me cry. He accepted this, hugged me and went back to what he was doing.
Phew, that was tough!
The energy it has taken me to deal with my personal life and managing to
still be a responsible parent has been challenging, and while I have been
putting what energy I have left at the end of each day into my writing,
it's been hard to put it all together into song format.
Please be patient and I will do my best to continue working on a finished
album!
Each morning I put my son on the school bus, feed our two dogs Sony and
Dolly, drink my orange juice and sit down at the computer to write. I
spend most of my time working with lyrics right now, sorting thoughts,
expressions and concepts. It often comes out in the form of poetry, diary
notes or e-mails to friends. My friends are great listeners and are very
patient and generous about it. I often go back to my e-mails for song
ideas. When I write in letter form, I don't hold back. I just write it as
it comes without considering format, topic, manners, etc. Some of my best
songwriting ideas are coming this way.
Time has a way of making everything right, and it is my hope that good
music will eventually come out of it. I say "good music” since I don't
want to just throw anything at you, just for the sake of hurrying up to
get it out. I want my new music to be something I'm personally satisfied
with and proud to share with you.
I have friends and family around constantly coaxing me to focus on my
music. "Your fans miss you. They want new music. It's been too long."
They're all dying for something new too, so they are pretty relentless
about it! I know you certainly all do deserve new music and tour dates;
not only because it's been so long, but also because of the HUGE support
you've all given me during this period. The many blogs and e-mails have
warmed my heart, strengthened my confidence, given me courage, and have
often even made me laugh out loud…in a good way! I know I am not alone and
realize through your support that you are all routing for Eja and I, and
our well-being. Thank you!
The other day I started writing a few pages about being hungry as a kid.
Some of it was painful to think about but it also made me laugh at the
funny times. Reflecting on that period of my life, I realize how true it
really is to learn to take the good with the bad. To appreciate that you
can't have one without the other. The trick is to give the "good" at least
as much of your energy as the "bad" and not to get stuck focussing more on
the "bad". I decided to start writing about other stages of my life to
help take my focus off the current phase I'm going through. When I'm
feeling down, I figured changing my focus to write about other periods of
my PAST would help pull me out of the sadness and on to new chapters in my
life. It works.
I will sign off now but I look forward to my next letter/blog to you. I
just wanted to fill you in a bit on what's going on with me and music, as
well as extend my thanks for all of the support that you have given me
over this last year and for all these years; and to assure you that I'm
fine and managing very well, in fact. I'm enjoying my child, friends and
family like I haven't in years, and it's great. I've been experiencing and
seeing new things every day, living life with a different and more
optimistic attitude. I've jumped out of an airplane at 10,000 feet, I'm
riding Spanish and Arabian horses, traveling to exotic places, I've been
deep sea diving for the first time! I pull the odd all-nighter, read more
books, listen to Eja's favourite music with him, LOUD [ironically his
favourite band is ACDC] and basically I'm enjoying life.
Till next time, my friends. Be well, and peace and happiness to all of
you.
Love,
Shania

The 43-year-old Timmins, Ont., native is one of the most successful
recording artists in the world, and was an obvious choice for Most

HELLO!
Canada names pop-country singing sensation Shania Twain Canada's Most
Beautiful Woman. "I don't think I'm ugly, I just think I'm overrated on
the cutie factor," she says. But like her famous song, the 43-year-old
stunner reveals feeling good is the key to keeping gorgeous: "I like to
feel like a woman". The newly single mother-of-one carries her
beauty from the inside out, the kind women warm to and men simply can't
help admiring. "A happy heart comes first, then the happy face," explains
the five-time Grammy winner. After a chance encounter with the
songstress - who comes from humble beginnings in Timmins, Ontario - in
France, SexyBack singer Justin Timberlake dubbed her "one hot little
number". She credits a raw-food diet and daily meditation as two of her
best-kept secrets, while most importantly maintaining a healthy attitude.

0811.18-Shania Twain has
tongues wagging [GAC]:
Shania
Twain was a surprise guest on last week’s Country Music Association
Awards, making an appearance at the close of the show to present Kenny
Chesney with the Entertainer of the Year award. "You look really
good," Kenny told her as he started his acceptance speech, but people
continued talking about her even after the show. "I actually didn’t see
her," Carrie Underwood — who co-hosted the show with Brad Paisley — told
reporters backstage. "Everything happened so fast. She was like a
super-secret surprise guest, so they kind of kept her under wraps. But,
you know, it was great to have her back. It’s definitely been awhile since
she’s hung out with all of us. I think everybody missed her, and it’s
great to have her back." Shania, who recently split with
husband-producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange after 14 years of marriage,
received a standing ovation from the industry-driven crowd. That was
particularly noteworthy because she was the target of plenty of derision
from Music Row when her album The Woman In Me started breaking sales
records with its Def Leppard influences and her navel-baring videos. But
it’s a new day. Shania’s rock influences aren’t nearly as boundary-pushing
as the Metallica-like chords Jason Aldean used in his performance of
"She’s Country," and there are plenty of new faces behind the scenes in
the business who don’t remember Shania as a controversial figure. That’s
also true among artists, including Taylor Swift, who was just five years
old when The Woman In Me was released. Taylor met Shania for the
first time at the awards, and she called the moment "awesome" in a blog
posting. Shania told Taylor she’s "doing a great job," particularly
meaningful since Taylor says the Canadian singer was her original
inspiration. Shania, Taylor says, is "the most impressive and independent
and confident and successful female artist to ever hit country music." And
after their introduction was over, Taylor cried as she experienced a "wave
of gratitude." Kenny, meanwhile, feels a kinship with Shania. Both
have won the CMA’s Entertainer of the Year honor, and both have had their
marriages end amid a wave of uncomfortable public speculation.
"Relationships are hard anyway for anybody, but it’s even tougher when
it’s a spectator sport," Kenny noted. "So I wish her all the best with it.
Obviously she’s an amazing artist, and it was really great to have her be
a part of [the awards]. I think that she can do anything she wants to do."
"Great songs," he added, "is the key." Shania’s night on the town didn’t
end at the CMA Awards. She also made an appearance at a Universal Records
after-party, where People spotted her chatting with George Strait and
Julianne Hough.
0811.15-Shania brought to
tears [Tennessean]:
Of
course, it wasn't Shania's back that garnered immediate attention when she
walked onstage in a low-cut Missoni gown to present the Entertainer of the
Year award during Wednesday's CMA Awards. This marked her first public
appearance since news spread of her divorce from her producer husband,
Robert "Mutt" Lange. Shania — who hasn't released a studio album since Up!
in 2002 — was moved to tears by the standing ovation her surprise
appearance earned from the Sommet Center crowd. "She was floored by the
reaction of the crowd," said her spokesman, Jason Owen. "It's probably one
of the best nights she's had in Nashville." When Kenny Chesney took the
stage to accept the award, he said out loud what was on the minds of many,
including those who gasped in the pressroom. "You look really good
tonight!" Kenny told her. Backstage, Kenny told reporters, "I flirted with
her onstage." Shania and Kenny have gone through marital splits in the
public eye. "Relationships are hard anyway, for anybody," Kenny said.
"It's even tougher when it's a spectator sport. I wish her all the best
really. I think she is obviously an amazing artist. It was really great to
have her be a part of this night. I think she can do anything she wants."
Earlier that night, Shania shared laughs and swapped stories in a dressing
room with Reese Witherspoon, Martina McBride and Jennifer Nettles. After
the show, she clearly had a great time at the Universal Music Group's
party at its downtown headquarters, dancing and requesting songs by Pink
and Kayne West. On Thursday, Shania boarded a plane for her home in
Switzerland.
0811.13-Reaction to Shania's
appearance [People]:
"I'm
so glad she's here tonight," Martina McBride raves about the star, who
received a standing ovation. The Country Music
Association promised a major surprise in the lead up to Wednesday's CMA
Awards – and it came at the tail-end of the three-hour telecast: Shania
Twain presented the final honor of the night – entertainer of the year –
to Kenny Chesney. "You look really good tonight!" he said as he took the
trophy in his hands. Twain, wearing a low-cut Missoni gown, had walked out
to a standing ovation. "It's good to see all of you too," she told the
crowd Wednesday at Nashville's Sommet Center. "I hope to be seeing a lot
more of you." Twain, 43, won the coveted entertainer of the year award in
1999, and was last at the CMA awards in 2004. PEOPLE first reported that
Twain was expected at the ceremony on Wednesday. Her presence marked the
singer's first public appearance since announcing her separation from
husband Robert "Mutt" Lange in May. Once Twain arrived at the
ceremony, the stars were buzzing. "Well, I hear she's single," Jimmy Wayne
told PEOPLE. "Maybe I'll be able to run into her!" Former tourmate
John Michael Montgomery sent his best wishes to the singer, telling
PEOPLE, "I just hate the fact that she went through her trials and
tribulations, and I hope that she comes back as strong as ever. If she
puts her mind to it, you ain't going to stop her." New artist of the year
nominee James Otto, who also toured with Twain, praised her crossover
appeal. "She opened up country music to so many people who had never
listened to it before," he told PEOPLE. "She really made a mark on country
music." Martina McBride summed up everybody's excitement, telling PEOPLE,
"I'm so glad she's here tonight."

Shania Twain who was spotted in Nashville on

right: The CMAs will mark Twain's first public appearance since the
country crossover superstar, 43, announced her separation from husband
Robert "Mutt" Lange, 60, in May. Dividing her time between her native
Canada and Switzerland, Twain "hasn't put down her guitar since the
split," a source told PEOPLE in July. "The songs are pouring out of her."
On Tuesday night, Twain dined with record label execs at hip Nashville
restaurant Flyte World Dining & Wine; on the way out, she greeted fans.
"She looked gorgeous," says an observer. Adds Flyte’s co-owner Scott
Sears, "She was charming and gracious. She and her party definitely
enjoyed themselves." Twain took home the Entertainer of the Year CMA award
in 1999, and was last in Nashville for the 2004 CMAs. "She loves Nashville
and is excited to spend time with all her friends that live there," says a
source close to Twain. "I would expect to see her more around town in the

Democrats and Republicans rarely agree on anything, it shows Shania's
universal appeal to both sides of the political spectrum.

fans [OFC]:
To
my beloved fans:
As I am sure you have seen or heard; I am going through a rough time
personally in my life. I wanted you all to know that I could not be
getting through this without you. Your letters, emails and words of
encouragement give me strength. Your overwhelming support reminds me to
smile, no matter how deep the pain and to always be grateful for all the
beautiful blessings in my life.
I have so much to say but I know the best way for me to speak is through
my music. This is my therapy, my passion, and my love. I look forward to
sharing it with all of you as I begin this new journey.
I need some time to heal this broken heart but make no mistake; I will be
back and hopefully stronger than ever.
Thank you my friends, from the bottom of my heart.
Love,
Shania

years of marriage," spokesman Jason Owen says in a statement. "This is a
private matter and there will be no further comment at this time."
Needless to say, the news has stunned Shania fans around the world.

0803.13-Shania's new walking
track
[various
articles]:
Shania
Twain joined Prime Minister Helen Clark at the opening of a tramping track
across the Canadian singer's property in the Otago high country today. The
Motatapu track runs between Wanaka and Arrowtown, with about half of it on
Twain's land. Providing the track was a condition imposed on Twain and her
husband Mutt Lange when they bought the Motatapu and Mt Soho Station
pastoral leases in 2004. Twain walked over a small section of the track
with Miss Clark and Conservation Minister Steve Chadwick today. "I'm very
proud," Twain said. "It's lovely. I'm enjoying myself. I'm having a great
time," she told reporters. Twain and Lange have since worked with
the Department of Conservation to build huts and other facilities on the
track which will be managed by DOC. Miss Clark said the track was the
first back country section of the Te Araroa public walkway to open in the
South Island. "The opening of this track is another step towards our
vision for a pathway throughout New Zealand, from Cape Reinga to Bluff,
enabling the length of our country in all diversity to be travelled by
foot," she said. "This is a challenging tramping track, passing
through Otago's golden tussock and beech forest, alongside burns with
stunning alpine views." The track opens to the public tomorrow. "I think
Shania Twain and her husband have set a whole new benchmark for what can
be achieved with a change of ownership," Miss Clark told TV3. Twain said
she had not yet walked the track. "But I will," she said before being
whisked back home by helicopter. There are also various video
interviews on Shania's appearance.

0803.03-More album stories
[GAC]:
From the Q&A section of GAC TV: Q: I miss Shania
Twain so much. When — or will — she return? (Jackie, Salem, VA)
A: Jackie, that’s been a popular question for the last couple of years.
And, even though we still don’t exactly when Shania Twain will offer up
new music and surface again as a performer, there seems to be a strong
indication that there could be new music from her this year. Don’t hold me
to that, because nobody at her label is ready to go on record to say it
will happen this year.
0802.06-The sweet smell of
success:
From
Shania's official site: Shania Starlight had $4.8

ranked as the 8th largest fragrance house (which would include BOTH
fragrances), with 2.4% of the total women's fragrance market.

0712.01-Shania struggles with
fame [GAC]:
Shania
Twain, who has spent the past five years out of the spotlight, says she is
ready to resume her career. In the December issue of Redbook, she
talks candidly about the issues she's confronted in the last few years. "I
struggled a lot internally with my fame, and coping with it has been very
difficult," she says. "I was at the point where I would never look anyone
in the eye. It was like living in prison." After retreating to her
chateau in Switzerland with her husband and son, Shania is about to
re-emerge. In addition to being mom to her 6-year-old, promoting a new
perfume and working on an album due that's due out next year, she says
she's learning to take care of herself. "I'm not such a slave to pleasing
everyone, which I think is a female tendency." she says. "I take more time
for myself; that's a very big part of mental, emotional and physical
health." As for getting back into public life, Shania says, "I'm not
naturally a spotlight person...[but] I don't mind being the center of
attention in a controlled, comfortable environment." She adds that music
is an integral part of her life, and she wants "to write and record things
that affect people in a positive way." So what does the future hold? She
jokes, "I'll probably be in the Canadian wilderness somewhere."
0711.25-Shania, gearing up for a
comeback [AHN]:
Twain claims that she is "not naturally a spotlight
person" but doesn't mind being the center of attention in a comfortable
environment. The five-time Grammy award-winning singer has been known to
feel uneasy about her role as a sex symbol and has repeatedly stated that
"it is the music that will last forever, not an image."
0711.25-Shania ready for
success this time [People]:
Shania
Twain, who took five years off from the spotlight, is ready to inch back
into public life – sort of. "I struggled a lot internally with my
fame, and coping with it has been very difficult," the 40-year-old singer
tells Redbook in its December issue. "I was at the point where I would
never look anyone in the eye. It was like living in prison." After
retreating to her chateau in Switzerland with her husband and son, she is
ready to re-emerge. Today, in addition to being mom to her 6-year-old,
coming out with a new perfume and working on a album due to be released in
2008, she says she's learning to look after herself. "I'm not such a
slave to pleasing everyone, which I think is a female tendency," she says.
"I take more time for myself; that's a very big part of mental, emotional
and physical health." As for getting back into public life, she
says, "I'm not naturally a spotlight person ... [But] I don't mind being
the center of attention in a controlled, comfortable environment." Asked
what she imagines for her future, she jokes, "I'll probably be in the
Canadian wilderness somewhere." But on a serious note, she says music is
an integral part of her life, and she wants "to write and record things
that affect people in a positive way."
0711.25-Duet's update:
It was stated in a recent interview that Shania recorded her part of the
Anne Murray duet in New Zealand. However according to the CD insert, the
track was recorded in Switzerland. Mutt produced the recording, and Olle
Bengt Romo was the engineer.
0711.25-Red in the face [Redbook]:
I was performing on a stage that had a rotating
platform, and when I stepped off of it onto solid ground, I fell right on
my butt! To make matters worse, the audience got to see it happening
larger than life on the Jumbotron screen! I got up, brushed myself off,
and asked, "Did you all catch that?" -- then had the stage technicians
replay the scene for anyone who missed it.
0711.25-Behind the scenes with
Shania [Redbook]:
Sweet,
energetic, and flexible—those are the words our editors used to describe
Shania Twain after this month’s cover shoot. Here, more scoop from that
day. REDBOOK art director, Emily Furlani, talked food, fitness, and family
with Shania during a break in shooting. “Shania is super in to taking care
of her body,” said Emily. “She mentioned she’d been on a raw food diet for
a year and said she’d started the diet ‘for the discipline’—that was
pretty impressive.” The conversation then moved to children. “We shared
this mom moment of discussing how tough it is to manage our kid’s dietary
restrictions—my daughter is allergic to egg and her son is only eating raw
foods, which means no egg. It’s hard to manage when the kids are at
school,” said Emily. You can read the entire article

0711.11-Shania, you've got
mail [Canoe]:
Anne Murray talks about Shania's contribution to her new Duets album:
Others, like Twain, did her part of the duet on You
Needed Me, from New Zealand. "Shania Twain was the easiest person to get
to," said Murray. "Trying to put something like this together is a
logistical nightmare. I got her e-mail address, (Murray's manager) Bruce
Allen, I guess, got it through (Twain's husband) Mutt Lange. I e-mailed
her one day and said, 'Would you be interested in being on this CD?' And
she wrote back and said, 'Would I?' And that was it. I sent her all the
songs and I asked her what she wanted to sing and she chose, of course,
probably the best song."
0711.11-Ann Murray Duets
Ann's new CD will be available starting November 13th. However, I know
Shania fans are eager to hear anything new coming our way from our

0709.28-Mutt Lange Biography
Special? [PR
WEB]:
An interesting story from MCA could indicate there might be a Biography
special in the works on Mutt:...Blixseth, Calder,
and Mutt Lange have all posted their music investment schedule in their
television biographies on A & E Television network. The three music
billionaires praise Nashville's music business as one of the most solid
financial investments in history. Billionaire Mutt Lange married his
Nashville investment and made Shania Twain a household word all over the
world, after meeting her at the CMA Music Festival during Fan Fair.
0709.28-"I will always
wonder..." [National
Post]:
Shopping
till she was dropping in Toronto last week was Shania Twain. Missing, we
think, only Winners while on a Bloor West hee-haw that took more than a
day. Stopping, we know, at Fresh in The Annex to gather her retail
strength. Helping herself to the banana nut pancakes -- can you sing Whose
Bed Have your Banana Nut Pancakes Been Under? -- Twain also had the ginger
tea. More intriguing still? The woman who is the most exquisite combo of
New Country and nouveau riche, and is, moreover, a vegetarian, asked to
speak to the owner of the place. Alas, the owner was nowhere to be found.
Now, my sources tell me, Ruth Tal, who is that very proprietor and is
virtually vegan royalty in this city, is just restless with curiosity. "I
will forever wonder what it is Shania wanted to say," is what Tal has been
telling friends. Also, while Shania was in Toronto, she stopped
by a
Look Good Feel Better workshop. These sorts of sessions are designed
to help women manage the appearance-related side effects of cancer. And
there, I hear, our reigning chanteuse of honky-tonk shared a few makeup
tips of her very own!

Promotion:
Shania
made various appearances on Canadian Television over the last few days to
promote her new perfume "Shania Starlight". On E!Talk Shania mentioned
that she would like the next album to be completed in 2008. Her exact
quote "There have been rumors about that. I wouldn’t
say that’s going to happen. I don’t know when. I’d like to see it
happening in 2008. I just…I got a lot of work to do still.".
Shania also mentioned, "I’m going very much in the
direction…I would say staying in the same direction, but stronger. Uh,
from the perspective of independence, female strength. There’s just no way
of avoiding it at this point in my life [yells in that laughing sort of
way she always does when joking] I just gotta go there! I just gotta
carry-on going there! It isn’t just a perspective for me now, I really
feel like I’m living it. I’m living what I’m writing right now.".

Twain Centre
[COD]:
Be
sure to check out an interview with Tracy Hauntenen, STC Manager on
Country On Demand. Here is an excerpt: The
Centre also works hard to follow in the footsteps of the woman whom it
immortalizes by giving back to the community. Tracy is proud to "reflect
Shania as best as we can. We have to understand again and again how
fortunate we are that she is so supportive as far as sending all her stuff
our way. We can't jeopardize that. This is the best representation of
Shania we can do, and she's put her stamp of approval on [the Centre], so
we need to continue that way, and make sure that all the good things she
does are shown here." During the Fan Conventions held each year,
Tracy holds a Shania auction to raise money for the exhibits. She says the
proceeds have gone to fund exhibits such as the Maple Leaf Hotel. But the
fans also do their best to give back, and that too, is important to the
manager, who reports, " What does happen when the fans are here is that
they do a side collection for the local food bank, because they know
that's one of the charities in town that Shania supports, so the food bank
benefits from the convention." The Centre also gives back by charging
canned goods to admissions to some of its events and by giving school
choirs the chance to get a little extra time in the spotlight.

0705.30-Shania says she will
tour
[People]:
How
does a country music super-star announce her newest fragrance? By inviting
a select group of beauty editors to a luncheon in New York City -- and I
was the lucky one seated right next to Shania Twain. Yep, baby argula
salad and white truffle risotto with Shania. And yes, she is completely
gorgeous, teeny-tiny, and down-to-earth friendly in a way that is
pleasantly surprising when you're talking about, oh, one of the
best-selling female recording artists of all time. She told me she and
her husband (and music-producing partner) Mutt Lang will start working on
her new album this summer, with a tour to follow next year. "Oh,
definitely! We'll tour very soon after the album comes out," she said.
And the new fragrance? A follow-up to her runaway success 2005 fragrance,
Shania by Stetson, her new scent is Shania Starlight by Stetson (sense a
theme?), which is meant to reflect the glamorous side of the star with a
mix of freesia and sexy jasmine and amber. Shania Starlight by Stetson
will be available in September for $18-$42 at deparment stores,
drugstores, and ulta.com. -- Elizabeth Lamont

supports the ballet in her new home town in Switzerland. When asked why
she decided to support the ballet publicly, Shania said
"The French Ballet makes it possible to the children
to live their dream. Or at least to test itself with art. An experiment
which each young person should have." Note that the quote is

0705.25-Shania CMT Interview
[CMT]:
Be
sure to watch CMT INSIDER, Saturday May 26th at 2pm EST for a new Shania
interview. Shania talks about her new perfume which launches in September,
and on writing songs for her upcoming studio album. Here is part of the
interview.....I'm always soul searching on a
spiritual level. That's a permanent occupation of mine, I think, for the
rest of my life. ... But I think I'm digging deeper and being more
reflective ... even more as a woman. ... I almost got a little bit tired
of talking about the woman's perspective for a little while, myself. And I
thought that the next record was going to be just deeper as a human being.
But the more I dig deeper as a human being, the stronger I feel about a
woman's perspective. (laughs) That is really crazy! So I just go full
circle and back to that. I'm not a feminist. I can kind of just say that
now. I was a bit confused about that for a while, but I think more than
ever now ... I love the role that men play in our lives. And it just makes
me feel even that more important as a woman. Be sure to check the
video captures from the show later this weekend...go

0705.23-More about her
new fragrance [Scented]:
It
is described as a fruity-floral "with top notes of mandarin and lemon,
apple blossom and white freesia; a heart of star magnolia, dewy gardenia,
night blooming jasmine and musk, and a drydown of creamy sandalwood,
cashmere woods, sugi wood, tonka and amber." "The fragrance has a sense of
maturity, while being sexier and more sensual. I want women to feel
luxurious and glamorous while wearing it.[...] This has a more elaborate
olfactory structure, with floral fruity notes which create a more
energetic and sparkling feel that's directly linked to the concept of
starlight, Available in eau de toilette bottles — .5 oz. for $18,
1.7 oz. for $34 and 3.4 oz. for $42 — the fragrance will be available in
September in mass retailers such as Wal-Mart, J.C. Penney, Sears, Kohl's,
Ulta and Walgreens."
0705.23-Shania talks with
Women's Wear Daily [STAR]:
Star Magazine paraphrases an interview Shania seems to have done for
Women's Wear Daily, so take this with a grain of salt.
Shania Twain has teamed up with Coty for the second
time to launch her second perfume, Shania Starlight by Stetson. “I enjoyed
the first experience so much that I wanted to do it again,” Shania Twain
told Women's Wear Daily of the perfume which hits stores in September.
“The fragrance has a sense of maturity, while being sexier and more
sensual. I want women to feel luxurious and glamorous while wearing it.”
The second fragrance will show off the different side of Twain, not so
closely associated with country music, Coty executives hope. Developed by
Givaudan’s Caroline Sabas, the fragrance is described as a “fruity floral”
scent and carries hints of everything from mandarin and lemon, apple
blossom and white freesia to jasmine, cashmere woods, and musk. “This has
a more elaborate olfactory structure, with floral fruity notes which
create a more energetic and sparking feel that’s directly linked to the
concept of starlight,” Steve Morris, senior vice president of global
marketing for Coty Beauty said to WWD. Though creating such a complex
fragrance can be difficult, Twain admits she especially enjoyed smelling
the different scents. “The freesia note gives it a femininity, while
citrusy note like mandarin give it an energetic bold,” said Twain. “The
blend of amber with musk makes it more romantic.” Industry experts
expect Coty to support the launch with a $10 million print and television
campaign, while Coty is working with Twain’s record label, Mercury
Records, on CD tie-ins. As for Twains’ CD, she confesses, “I want to come
back with a very positive impact. My career is music, so if I can’t focus
and write, I have nothing to revolve the rest of my career around. I’m
putting together a diary about a new chapter in my life that I’m about to
share, and I might write a little more about my own struggles.”

Shania
Twain was hobnobbing with the truly royal when she visited Monaco for the
World Music Awards and met Prince Albert, son of Princess Grace. Country
Weekly caught up with Shania for this important event in our June 4, 1996
issue, and Shania told us that she was proud to serve as an ambassador for
American country music. "Country music here in Monaco is not really as
popular as pop music is," she noted. "Maybe the fact that the music I'll
perform has a pop sensibility to it will help people realize that country
music isn't necessarily what they think it is." Shania was named World's
Best-Selling Country Female Artist.
