0412.28-Happy
Anniversary!!!!!!!!!:
Happy 11th Anniversary to Eilleen and Robert Lange!!!
11 years ago today, Shania and Mutt were married at Deerhurst Resort in
Ontario Canada. In the latest issue of Reader's Digest, Shania had
this to say about their relationship: "I followed my
heart and it didn't let me down! He's just a beautiful person. We have a
very strong relationship. We've survived all the pressures that careers
like ours can put on a marriage: moving around, separations you have to
endure, the intense time together, all the change you have to flow with.
And we're still very happy. I look at him with complete adoration and
love. I melt. We just went to a wedding, and I looked at him and thought,
Wow! I feel like we're still in the beginning."

04012.22-Shania's
secret for a hit record [CountryStars]:
With
Shania's Greatest Hits album fly off the shelves, she tells CountryStars,
"I'm always trying to do something unique and be an
individual artist so in that sense it's probably going to end up being
different from a lot of what else is out there, but that is a goal, I do
that intentionally, but not intentionally to be a trend setter," she says
modestly. Yeah, it does take time to put together I think a good quality
record," she admits. "More time for me, I think because I write my own
music, so you know, of course it's just more time consuming. And then you
know, all the studio time."
0412.22-Triple
Platinum [CMT]:
Shania's Greatest Hits Album has been certified Triple Platinum by the
RIAA. CONGRATULATIONS SHANIA!!!!
0412.22-Shania

Top News Headlines of 2004 [CMT]:
Shania
ranked #17 on CMT's list of the top headlines of 2004, despite the fact
she broke and set records. The #1 country tour, bringing in over 86$
million dollars, beating second place Kenny Chesney. Her hit album "Come On Over" reached Double Diamond status
reaching the 20 million mark, and she received the Triple Diamond Plaque
at the CMT Flame Worthy Award Show for being the only artist in history to
have three consecutive certified diamond albums.
0412.19-Shania
owned the road in '04 [Countrynation]:
At
least one Country News website has the story straight:
Shania Twain couldn't have had a better 2004 at the
ticket window, reporting $62.5-million in total tour grosses and playing
to close to one-million fans. Toss last year's total into the pudding, and
you come up with a staggering 86-million -- hands-down the top-grossing
tour in history for a female country artist. Don't be coming to Daddy with
who sold the most tickets -- he's only impressed by who brings home the
biggest pile of dough. It was also
reported in Billboard Magazine's Year End Issue, that Shania set another
record for the highest grossing tour for a female country artist.
Congratulations Shania!!!!
0412.16-More

Shania's
"Greatest Hits" CD has been certified Double Platinum by the RIAA. Shania
achieved this status in 5 weeks time. CONGRATULATIONS SHANIA!!! Remember

selling 237,000 copies. She is #6 on the overall album chart.
0412.16-Shania
leads Christmas Sales [Chart
Attack]:
With one week of Christmas shopping to go the winner
of the holiday season CD race looks to be Shania Twain. After a strong
showing from U2 a couple of weeks ago, Twain forcefully came back and
holds down #1 for the second week in a row. Twain’s Greatest Hits is
selling like mad, actually increasing sales over last week. The country
pop star sold 61,700 CD’s last week, up 5,000 from the week before. This
sudden surge of Shania fever has pushed her well ahead of her toughest
competition, U2
0412.16-Greatest
Hits review [PhilStar]:
...The
sequence of the songs goes backwards with the cuts from UP! coming first,
followed by those from Come On Over and The Woman in Me. What I find truly
interesting is that this gives the listener a look into how Shania evolved
from talented country singer into a big pop star through the years. It
shows her music starting at country, the country getting some rock which
changes into power ballads, that lightens into pop, where it gets that
bright beat that has become her trademark. Now that she is on top of the
game, you won’t believe what she does. She goes back to country. Shania
introduces three new songs in the album, two of them Don’t! and Ain’t No
Quitter are country songs. The other Party for Two strikes a balance
between pop and country and is probably where Shania wants to be, enjoying
both worlds.
0412.13-Shania:
top country tour [Countrynation]:
While the
Nashville Press twists words over who had the top tour so they look good,
Countrynation gets the story right. Total ticket
sales aside, who was the country star taking home the most tour loot in
2004? Answer: Shania Twain. According to Billboard, Shania grossed a cool
$62.5 million, playing to nearly 950,000 fans. The top ticket seller in
country was Kenny Chesney, but he came in a few million shy of Shania,
raking in $49.3 million -- while Toby Keith stuffed $44.3 million under
his hat.
0412.12-Up!
video clips [Mercury]:
Mercury has added video clips from the Up! Video press kit on their
website. Shania talks about the recording of Up! and the making of the
video for "I'm Gonna Getcha Good". Shania also talks about being a new
mom.
0412.12-Shania
plans new charity [Readers
Digest]:
Be
sure to check the January issue of Reader's Digest. Shania recently did an
interview that is published in this issue. Shania talks about her Greatest
Hits CD, as well as the formation of a charity to help kids in need.
Shania says...Not a day goes by that I'm not
planning this charity to help underprivileged kids, hungry kids in North
America. I know what happened to us and what happens to a lot of kids, and
somebody needs to help them.

0412.07-Double
Diamond news [Billboard]:
Well,
the press releases are finally out in regards to "Come On Over" going
Double Diamond. The RIAA and Billboard both posted articles on their
websites. Shania Twain has joined an exclusive club
as the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in November
certified her 1997 album "Come on Over" 20 times platinum. The milestone
reflects U.S. shipments of 20 million copies of the single-disc Mercury
Nashville set, the equivalent of two of the RIAA's diamond level awards
(10 million). "Come on Over" is the best-selling country album in history,
according to the RIAA. "Come on Over" is the best-selling country album in
history, according to the RIAA. Only five artists have titles that have
shipped more copies to U.S. retailers: the Eagles (1976's single-disc
"Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975)," 28 million), Michael Jackson (1982's
single-disc "Thriller," 26 million), Pink Floyd (1979's two-disc "The
Wall," 23 million), Led Zeppelin (1971's single-disc "Led Zeppelin IV," 22
million) and Billy Joel (1985's two-disc "Greatest Hits, Vol. I & II," 21
million). (Ed note: For its accounting purposes, the RIAA counts each disc
of a multiple-disc release as a single unit towards a title's total.)
Twain's entry into that pantheon debuted at No. 1 Billboard's Top Country
Albums and No. 2 on The Billboard 200 chart upon its release. Eleven of
the 16 tracks reached Billboard's Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart:
"You're Still the One" (No. 1), "Love Gets Me Every Time" (No. 1), "Honey
I'm Home" (No. 1), "Man! I Feel Like a Woman!" (No. 4), "Come on Over"(No.
6), "Don't Be Stupid (You Know I Love You)" (No. 6), "From This Moment On"
(No. 6), "That Don't Impress Me Much" (No. 8), "You've Got a Way" (No.
13), "I'm Holdin' on to Love (To Save My Life)" (No. 17) and "Rock This
Country" (No. 30). Shania's
site has also been updated!

0412.06-Shania,
on writing songs [STNAOFC]:
What’s
your technique for writing a new song?
If I have an idea, I’m usually singing it around for a couple of days,
milling it around in my mind. Lyrics I will write down immediately. A
melody, well you can always call your own telephone number and sing it
into the phone, so that’s an easy way of not losing it. Some melodies are
there for years and I know that with the next record there are a few
melodies that have been milling around for a long long time which I will
get to.
Have you ever got a tune in your head and wondered whether it’s new,
or whether you’ve just heard it somewhere? Sometimes it does
happen and I’ll say to myself, have you heard this melody before? A lot of
things do happen unconsciously. Some melodies might come to me in my sleep
or, maybe it’s been in my head for so long and I never realised it and
that’s why it sounds familiar to me, but it’s really mine.
Do you tend to think of a snappy title or lyric first, or the music
first?
I know that for If You’re Not In It For Love I’m Out Of Here, that came
later. We did the song, we didn’t have a title yet. We had this rhythm
going and we were in the Caribbean at the time and Mutt kept saying ‘Come
on, think of something!’ I remember him encouraging me to try and think of
something. I was listening to the music, he was playing the riff over and
over again over several days. At breakfast one morning I finally said,
‘Okay, If You’re Not In It For Love I’m Out Of Here. And he said ‘Yes,
that’s it!’
0412.06-Christmas
with Shania [CMT
Canada]:
Shania
told CMT CANADA what Christmas was like growing: She
told us that Christmas was always a fun time for her family. “We all
decorated the tree. It was a really nice, family time for our family. And
we would often travel to my grandparents’ house when we lived out of town.
And we would spend between Christmas and New Year’s with them a lot of the
times. And that was more of a big, you know, Aunts, Uncles, cousins and
all that sort of thing on my Dad’s side of the family. So, my immediate
family spent most of our Christmases by ourselves and it was really quite
nice.”

Years of Triumph [GAC]:
...she
had just begun a new assault on country music hoping to take her already
lofty superstar status to even greater heights with the release of a new
album and the beginning of a new tour. It was just over two years ago that
she released her album Up! What’s followed has been two years of
undisputed triumph. It had been five years since she’d released a new
album and 3 years since she had been on tour. To her fans it was like
she’d never been away. They immediately embraced her new album and
enthusiastically welcomed her back on her worldwide tour. It’s been a
love-fest bigger than anything she’s experienced before. Shania
talks about the future: "I don't know if I
want to change direction," said Twain, "I've entertained the idea of doing
a really rootsy, country sound; it would be more on the bluegrass side.
Would I want to do a straight-ahead pop record? I've entertained the
thoughts of doing just duets with all my favorite artists. I've thought of
maybe doing an album of covers of my favorite classics. And so what kind
of album is the next album going to be? I don't know. I have to think
about it a little more." While Shania Twain thinks about what’s next,
she’ll no doubt be reflecting proudly on her last two years of Triumph.

the songwriter [STNAOFC]:
This
Shania interview appeared in the Herald Sun on November 28th. Shania
talked about family, songwriting, and why she would never live in
Australia. Here is the an excerpt on one of Shania's favorite things to
do, and that is songwriting, ..."If you're talking about deep
satisfaction, I only get that from songwriting because it's such an
expressive thing. It's like writing in your diary or something. It's
permanent." There is one aspect of Shania's early days she misses:
belting out old favourites on a dodgy sound system in a small, smoky bar.
"I find that it's difficult in a big concert with the kind of music that I
like to indulge in. It doesn't translate as well." Shania says she is
sitting on a pile of unpublished songs that she has penned over the years
-- a treasure trove that would be worth a fortune. But if she has her way,
it may never be seen. "I would be so embarrassed to think anybody may find
it -- even in a 100 years. "It's like anything. Before you finish
something you don't want anyone to see it. That would be the most
embarrassing thing. I don't even let Mutt hear it! "I felt that way when
John Lennon died and they brought out his unreleased material. As a writer
I felt a pang. And there was that exhibition of Picasso's unfinished
works. "I felt like I was intruding. It was fascinating, but I still felt
wrong. I thought, `He doesn't know we're all peering at his private
thoughts'."

0412.02-"Crazy
Cakes" [Leukemia.ca]
According
to shania.com, "Last
May Shania donated her recipe for "Crazy Cake" to a special cause, moved
by a very touching story about two little girls: 8-year old cancer
survivor Juliana and her 10-year old cousin Brooke, who want to help
children with cancer. The girls are huge Shania fans and were able to
attend her last concert in London ON. With her mom's help, Brooke
published a cookbook called "Cookin' in Brooke's Kitchen," which raised
enough money for two Leukemia Research Fellowships. Young Brooke has now
finished her second cookbook (with Shania's secret recipe) to raise more
money for Leukemia Research. Brooke's new cookbook with be available
December 10. Brooke will have a book signing that day at the Leukemia &

Shania fan [CSM]:
Shania fans show up in the most unlikely places....
Shania Fan in Kurdistan....After writing the piece,
correspondent Annia Ciezadlo went to an Internet cafe to send it. Her
Apple laptop would not start. The next day, she found a computer
technician in Sulaymaniyah who was sure he could fix it. "He pulled out
his screwdrivers and began to disassemble it before my eyes," she says.
While he was working, he asked Annia where she was from. "Chicago? That's
a great city. Do you know why?" By way of answering, he turned on another
computer in his shop that began playing a Shania Twain concert in Chicago.
"For two hours, he danced and worked," says Annia. "He said 'Shania is my
guide,' sighing, and rolling his eyes to the heavens. 'She is teaching me
English.' But he fixed the computer, and only charged me $25, so it was
worth being subjected to an entire Shania Twain concert. I think."
0412.02-Shania
takes some time off [Yahoo]:
After a
decade of touring and focusing on her career, Shania Twain says she's now
ready to enjoy life more and spend time with her new son — in addition to
creating music. "I haven't cracked as many champagne bottles open as I
probably should have over the last 10 years, just because I was always so
focused on the future, what's next, all that sort of stuff," Twain told
reporters at a recent news conference Over the past 10 years, Twain has
undertaken a heavy schedule of touring, recording, writing and promotion
but "never really (stopping) to enjoy the moment as it's happening. That's
kind of unfortunate," she said. But that has already begun to change. For
one, she has been spending more time with her son, Eja, who accompanied
Twain around the world on her most recent tour. "He's just a wonderful
little boy — cheerful, happy and he's got a lot of miles under his belt
right now," she said
0412.01-3c
Digital interview [3cDigital]:
Shania was on the 3c Digital country station on the web, and she
talked about various things:
On the CMA Awards:
"CMAs awards, there is no logic as to when you get them".
Come On Over getting the double diamond:
She said that she and Mutt focus on writing quality songs, and every album
they have worked on has gone Diamond.
On future goals:
She said, since she already has over did her dreams, she constantly wants
to write a better song, coming up with a better story.

0412.01-More
on Shania's album sales [Countrynation]:
Here
is a funny story from Countrynation, I just had to reprint here:
Chigger Itch
-- With Shania Twain's 3rd week sales in excess of 384k, her "Greatest
Hits" album has now sold over 1 million copies in the US alone -- and will
spend a third week at the top of the country charts. Here's the best part.
Each Shania album sold puts another chigger in the shorts of the wags on
Music Row. You keep buying and they keep scratching. Life is good.
So remember to purchase your Greatest Hits CD!!!
