0502.27-Larry King March 15th [Countrynation]:

Countrynation is reporting that Shania will be a guest on CNN's Larry King Live on March 15th. Shania Twain will make a guest appearance on CNN's "Larry King Live" on March 15. My guess is, Shania will be there to talk about her new fragrance line for Stetson Fragrances -- and to snap Larry's suspenders until he screams, Ohhhh, mama!!

0502.26-Shania's movie debut on DVD [Amazon]:

See Shania's movie debut in I "heart" Huckabees, which is now on DVD. Shania makes an appearance in one scene in the movie, and she is seen in the deleted scenes and outtakes on the second disc.

0502.25-Shania donates to Wild life auction [Auctions]:

The Wildlife Conservation Society saves wildlife and wild lands. They do so through careful science, international conservation, education, and the management of the world's largest system of urban wildlife parks, led by the flagship Bronx Zoo. Together, these activities change individual attitudes toward nature and help people imagine wildlife and humans living in sustainable interaction on both a local and a global scale. WCS is committed to this work because they believe it essential to the integrity of life on earth. Shania donated a sports jersey she wore on her Up! Tour, as well as a pair of sneakers.

I finally found the issue of Country Music Today that had a picture of Shania receiving the Double Diamond Plaque for the Best Selling Country Album of all time "Come On Over". The picture was basically buried on page 16.

0502.21-Fans to visit Timmins in Aug. [Timmins Times]:

Timmins is getting set to receive a European invasion this summer for the third Annual World Wide Shania Twain Fan Convention. Registration for the convention opened online on Monday and customer services manager Tracy Hautanen said within minutes she was receiving completed forms confirming attendance. “The World Wide Shania Twain Fan Convention has quickly become the largest annual gathering of Shania Twain fans from throughout the world,” said Hautanen. In respect to attendance, Hautanen said she would like to break the 100 mark, and fans are telling her they anticipate double from last year with 140 fans flocking to Timmins. She said she’d be going by their estimate, as they are usually right when it comes to these kinds of things.....Hautanan said the convention wouldn’t be complete without surprises, which is one of the reasons why the fans are not allowed to enter the exhibition area until Friday morning as a group. “We’re expecting more surprises again this year,” she said. “They won’t be as big as the bus, but they will be just as exciting.” As for the exhibition area, Hautanen said she likes to have new additions when the fans pay a visit. This year they will get to see the two new sound booths, which were purchased and installed with the money raised during last year’s convention auction. Two dedicated fans were actually in Timmins to register on Monday. Alan Burden from New York and Andrea O’Callighan of Toronto both attended last year’s conference and Shania’s homecoming. They both agreed that the best part of the convention was getting together with like-minded friends from around the world and having a good time. Register for the Fan Convention here!

The accused: Shania Twain, the monstrously popular singer who has sold well, who can count that high? Trespassed into pop: Back in 1995, when she and husband John "Mutt" Lange crafted The Woman in Me, a radio-friendly, intentionally poppy, punctuation-mark filled album -- (If You're Not in It for Love) I'm Outta Here!, Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under? -- that, by year's end, had sold 6 million copies. That was nothing compared with her next record, 1997's Come On Over, which made Twain a household name and had sold 36 million copies by the end of the century. Crawled back to her boots: Every time she puts out a new record, Twain knocks on both pop and country's doors, releasing different song mixes for the two genres (unlike her competition and contemporary Faith Hill, who, after years in country, now just focuses on pop); Twain's one smart gal Blessed or condemned?: Some -- OK, a lot -- of traditional-country enthusiasts call her music blasphemous, and she's often snubbed by country-music award shows. 0502.01-STC Announces FAN CON 3!!!! [STC]:

Here is the message posted on the Shania Twain Centre web site from Tracy: Hello Shania Fans!
Many of you have been waiting for the official announcement of the Third Annual Shania Twain Centre Fan Convention dates, and we thank you for your patience. This year, the convention will run from August 18-21, with lots of great activities for you to enjoy. We are also going to add an additional "twist" for fans that are interested in seeing some of Shania's other Ontario connections. We have secured a motor coach that will pick fans up in Toronto on August 17th, and drive them to Timmins, with a stop at Deerhurst resort for lunch and a tour. On August 22nd the motor coach will bring fans back to Toronto through Sudbury, with a quick look at the school Shania attended, and some other interesting stops that we are still working on. This bus tour will not be included in the registration fee for the convention, but will be an add-on that fans can choose. Of course, we will have a wonderful host on the bus that will make the trip exciting and full of interesting "Shania" facts. I will have registration rates, bus tour rates, and a tentative agenda in the next few days, but I just wanted to give everyone the dates so they can start booking time off. (Pick up and drop off for the bus tour will be at a set location near Pearson International Airport in Toronto)
