Mercury has
announced that the NEW SINGLE from Up! to be released will be "It Only
Hurts When I'm Breathing" in the USA and Canada.

loves being on the road [CountryStars]:
Shania doesn't tour every year, but when she does,
she feels at home on the road. "To be honest with you your concert
is almost your home base," she explains. "You get comfortable after a
while. Once your show is up and rolling it's your comfort zone. It's the
place I think that you eventually become more relaxed. Because the
environment is pretty much the same every night. Your show is your show
every night. And there's definitely a sense of stability there. That's the
one thing that never changes."
0401.27-Shania
on holiday [Countrynation]:
Wonder
what Shania did on her time off before the next leg of her tour starts.
Well, Shania and her family spent some time in New Zealand. New Zealand
was the location of her video
"Forever and For Always". From Countrynation.com:
Shania Twain, her husband "Mutt" Lange, and their
2-year-old son Eja, have been on summer holiday in Wanaka, NZ since
December, the Otago Daily Times reports. According to the paper, the
family will be loading up and returning to Europe early next month for
Twain's world tour, "Up", which resumes in France. 14-year-old Shane
Blackwood, who bags groceries at a local supermarket, was delighted when
Twain recently gave him an autograph on the back of the store's weekly
competition entry form. "I just talked to her and said: `Could I please
have your autograph?' She's just a normal person," he says.
0401.25-Shania
talks about Alison Krauss [Maverick]:
In
an interview which came out when
Shania's Up! Close Special was shown on NBC, Shania talked about why
she teamed up with the bluegrass singer. The interview has been reprinted
in the UK magazine Maverick:
"Shania reached out to Alison Krauss because she has
long been a fan of the bluegrass star's music. In turn, Alison has long
been a fan of Shania's husband, legendary rock/pop/country Mutt Lange. "I
wanted to go back to something stripped-down and rootsy," Shania explains.
"I've been doing big concerts for quite a long time, and I love it, but I
just want that contrast." To get it, she turned to Union Station. "Wanting
to break the music down, there just didn't seem to be any other way," she
adds. "They were the ones. There is no, even, second choice." It is
rumoured that there will be a stripped-down acoustic segment during
Shania's UK concert tour this month."
0401.23-Writer
selected for Twain picture [Canada.com]
Riis
just got word that she will be writing the script for a new television
movie about the early years of country superstar, Shania Twain. She has
already read the Twain biography twice, and is looking forward to bringing
the story to life on the screen. "I know that world," says Riis.
Like Twain, she grew up in 'The Bush,' living simply and experiencing the
people and the lifestyle of a northern community. Add to that, she is
almost the same age as Twain's mother and remembers the music and the
fashions of that day. "The country music Shania Twain was playing in the
bars when she was eight -- I know that scene," says Riis, one of Canada's
busiest screenwriters, at home in Saskatoon where she has lived since
1987. The Twain biopic, co-produced by CBC and Barna-Alper Productions,
won't reach the airwaves before fall.

0401.20-Emerson
Drive on spring leg [Kamploop]:
Emerson
Drive will join Shania on the Spring leg of her worldwide Up! Tour. Here
are some comments from the group about Shania:
"We had to juggle some shows last year when we got
picked to open for Shania (Twain), so we're going back to those ones
before we start with her again."
There's a strange mix of awe and acceptance in Wallace's voice as he talks
about touring with Twain. It's not just her, it's the people who drop by.
"We were in the catering room for one show, all sitting at one table. At
the next table is Shania, Mutt (Lange, her husband), a couple of guys from
Def Leppard and Bo Derek. I'm sitting there eating, trying not to stare
and wondering how I got here."
0401.20-Touring
with Shania [Toronto
Sun]:
...In
any given city, her daily routine begins about 9 a.m at the venue. "I set
up my work space, meet with the building technicians to get the change
rooms up and running, then go out shopping for last-minute supplies like
fresh flowers to brighten up the rooms and scented candles to mask odours.
We usually play in dirty old hockey arenas." There are
alterations to do, steaming, pressing and laying out that evening's
performance clothes for Twain and her her nine member band -- including
several backup options. During the show, Twain has three complete outfit
changes that Martin must get her through in 11/2 minutes flat.
"Everything is laid out face down on a table in the order she puts it on.
So when she runs into the change booth I help her rip off her clothes,
pull on the new ones and make sure her jewelry is on, boots are laced and
zippers zipped." Martin says things can and do go wrong. "Shania's
hair may get tangled in something, her microphone could come unplugged, a
shirt might go on backwards or twisted. If she's
putting on a fishnet
stocking and it rips, we have to hide the rip or mask it." Twain's
wardrobe is a huge responsibility: "Her stage wear, the gowns for award
shows, her accessories and over 30 pairs of boots and shoes (size 6) are
with us all the time." For the Up! tour, Twain's signature is colourful boxing boots -- most custom designed by Steve Madden -- that she
wears with contrasting laces to match her outfits. She doesn't wear
stilettos on stage -- only boots and platforms -- because the slim heels
can get caught in the step grates. Silk cargo pants and jeans
dotted with
studs and crystals, sparkly tops and Cosabella mesh tank tops layered in
bright colours are a few of Twain's favourites for stage. She is also a
big fan of glittering jewelry, especially chokers dripping in crystals.
"We have to put extra-large clasps on the pieces so they are easier to get
off and on during quick changes." In every city, Twain sports a
hometeam jersey during her show and if a city doesn't have one, Martin
will buy a local tourist T-shirt and customize it for Twain. "I'll
cut it low, tie it high and add rhinestones and Swarovski crystals," says
Martin of her redesigns. Her stage wear constantly evolves with "cool"
pieces the two pick up along the way. Twain never wears the same outfit
twice in a region where fans may travel to neighbouring cities to see the
show a second time. READ

included a picture taken by Sas from the
STNAOFC of the picture in the magazine. Once I have the magazine in my
possession I will scan the article on the picture. I have never seen this
picture before. The caption reads: "Shania Twain.
Exploding with fiery movement, Shania's lush locks deliver undeniable
energy. Let loose by using a mixture of texturizing cream and smoothing
serum before blow-drying locks with a large round brush. When dry, run
styling wax throughout, focusing on ends for edge."

0401.15-Shania's
Potato Roast [Countrynation]:
Shania rocks
in the kitchen. Shania has contributed her Potato Roast recipe for a
new book "Recipes That Rock" The book
features musician's favorite dishes, the foods they would be, favorite
restaurants and restaurant dishes, backstage food requests, music to
accompany food, food for thought and recipes.
Shania's recipe appeared in a book by country music
columnist Hazel Smith's book, "Hazel's Hot Dish: Cooking with Country
Stars". At the time of the book's release Hazel said of Shania:
She's a
little stand-offish until she gets to know you, and then she's really
sweet. At the BMI Awards 2000, Shania spied me across a room of a thousand
people, made a beeline, and, with tears in her eyes, hugged me. We talked
about Switzerland, where she and Mutt raise roses.
Shania said, 'I really cook. I want to be in your cookbook.' Thank you,
Shania, for the recipe from Switzerland."
SHANIA'S POTATO ROAST
4 potatoes (peeled or unpeeled)
3-4 garlic cloves, sliced into slivers
1 tablespoon dry parsley flakes
1 bay leaf
1/2 teaspoon salt
sprinkle of pepper
4 tablespoon olive oil
optional (for variety)
4 tablespoon white cooking wine
1 teaspoon rosemary
Chop potatoes in quarters. Combine all ingredients in a roasting pot. Toss
until potatoes are covered evenly. Place lid on pot and roast at 200-250
degrees for 4-5 hours for a slow roast or at 450 degrees for 45 minutes
for a quick roast. Keep an eye on it in case your oven is really hot; it
may cook even faster. Stir 15-20 minutes into baking. Makes 4-6 servings
0401.15-Time
between albums [CountryStars]:
Ever wonder
why Shania takes a lot of time to complete an album? Well, that was the
number one question from Shania fans while we were waiting for her album
Up! Besides taking time off to have a baby, Shania writes all her own
songs. Shania says "I write everything I record and
I guess that's why it takes me so long to make my records because you
know, when you write it all yourself it's time consuming," Shania says.
"It's just so much more rewarding that way as well. And it's just part of
who I am. Even if I wasn't a singer I would still be a songwriter; they're
kind of 2 separate entities really. The singer side is really the
performer side but the songwriter is just a complete creative side."

saves company [Montreal
Gaz.]:
Shania Twain loves
her country roots: The platinum-selling pride of Timmins, Ont., saved the
bacon of a small Stanstead company by plugging its balm for cow udders,
Bag Balm, as a tonic for her dry skin and hair. Sales of the cow ointment,
manufactured by the Dr. A.C. Daniels Co. Ltd., skyrocketed. And just in
time, said Diane Smith, whose family now runs the the company, "otherwise
we'd have been finished for sure
