030730-Super
Audio version of Up! [Mercury]:

Shania is
releasing her latest album UP! as a Super Audio CD (SACD) on Tuesday,
August 12th. Super Audio Compact Discs (SACD) are a new audio disc
format that look like regular CDs, but have much higher storage capacity,
so they can hold super high-quality audio. SACD discs use a format called
Direct Sound Digital that promises much better CD audio. To take advantage
of the improved sound quality with SACDs, you will need a SACD player and
a Surround Sound audio system to enjoy the multichannel audio. Many SACD
players also function as conventional CD and DVD-Video players, allowing
you to have one player that supports all three formats.

0307.30-Forever
and For Always goes pop. [R&R]:
Shania's
latest single, "Forever and For Always" is climbing the charts. It goes to
pop radio August 4th.
0307.30-Not
just a country singer [Miami Herald]:
People can label Shania Twain a
country artist. Just don't stop there, says the singer-songwriter.
Although Twain says she has strong country roots, her musical influences
are broad.
"It just happens that because I started so young, I developed all the way
through my teens with other styles as well," Twain told reporters. "So I
guess what I would say is that I'm not just a country singer but that I
would say that I am a country singer."
Twain, who recently recorded Dolly Parton's "Coat of Many Colors" for an
upcoming tribute album, also had a chance to record with the country music
legend.
"It's been one of the biggest thrills of my life," said Twain.
Twain will have a two-hour prime-time special on NBC on Aug. 19.
0307.30-Shania
makes the rounds on TV
Shania appeared on Entertainment Tonight, Access Hollywood, and Extra.
Shania talked about her fans, losing weight after having her baby, and
about her upcoming special and tour. Remember to check out Shania on Regis
and Kelly, tomorrow on ABC at 9am EST, and on the Today Show on Friday at
7am on NBC.
On "Extra", Shania said she's happy that her fans are gracious
enough to allow her to keep her "Private Life, Private" and said that her
fans "respect that."
Shania also said that the reason she did the Special (which they Plugged
for Aug. 19 in the segment) was because she realized she would Not have
her TOUR ready until the "End of September" (Shania's Eyes got BIG when
she said that)...she said she was NOT going to go through the Summer
Without being on stage! So, Shania chose to do the special.
"Extra" played the beginning part of the "I'm Gonna Getcha Good!" video
where Shania says "Don't Want Ya for the weekend" and then the "Extra"
anchor did a Voice Over that said: "....but she does want you for the
night of August 19 for her 2 hour NBC concert special." [thanks to

rocked Chicago!!!:
I just got back from Chicago, all I can say is: Shania impressed me
much!!! This had to be one of the best Shania concerts I ever attended.
Shania sang songs from her three hit CDs,
"The Woman In Me",
"Come On
Over", and
"Up!". The show went from Country, to Rock, to Pop, and back
again. This free concert was recorded for an upcoming NBC concert special
on August 19th at 8pm. Check out what the fans are saying who were
there from the
STNAOFC and the
Shania Forums. My review can be found
here.
I hope to have pictures posted this weekend. Reviews from the Chicago
papers can be found on the following sites:
The Chicago Sun Times, and the
Daily Herald,
and the

Shania
took time out of her schedule to visit the Chicago chapter of American
Second Harvest, "Kids Cafe". Twain is a
supporter of ASH, a charity that provides after school meals, tutoring and
mentoring to low-income students. The singer visited with the children
during their lunch program and played basketball with them before leaving.

We all know
how much Shania loves her husband "Mutt" Lange. Here is a rare story about
how much Mutt loves Shania....
While Mutt
was working on "18 'Til I Die" with Bryan Adams, he hung a huge picture
frame up in their rented Jamaican house (studio) with 42 small pictures of
Shania and one large photo of him and her together

loves performing [Miami
Herald]:
Shania
Twain says performing live is the most satisfying part of being a singer.
"I love being on stage. That's my favorite thing about performing: to be
in concert," the singer told AP Radio. "I'm just a lot more relaxed in
concert with my fans."
Twain said she likes being up close and personal with the audience, adding
that she enjoys playing all kinds of venues - big and small.
"I like to get as close to the audience as possible - that's what makes it
fun for me," she said. "Without the audience, it's like doing a video -
not all that exciting."
Twain said memories of performing in small clubs haven't faded just
because she can now sell out arenas. She even admits to missing those
days.
"I never thought I'd say that, but I spent so many years singing in clubs,
sometimes I find the audience to be so far away," she said. "When I'm
walking down the street and I hear a band playing in a club, I'm tempted
to walk in and get up on stage and sing. But, at the same time, I really
like the rush and roar of thousands of people."
Twain also gets a rush from writing songs - whether it's for herself or
another artist.
"My passion is more in songwriting than ... in being a star," she said. "I
write songs for my vocal ability, and I write songs for who I am as a
person. But I also write a lot of different (songs) I wouldn't necessarily
record myself."
Twain's latest album is "Up!" She's set to play a free outdoor concert
in Chicago on July 27.
0307.14-Shania
&Union Station Team Up! [Billboard]:
The
career of Dolly Parton will be celebrated in grand fashion this fall with
the all-star, all female tribute album "Just Because I'm a Woman." Due
Oct. 14 via Sugar Hill Records, the collection will feature Parton's songs
recorded by the likes of Norah Jones, Alison Krauss & Union Station,
Shania Twain and Sinead O'Connor, as well as a new recording of the title
track by the honoree herself.
"Just Because I'm a Woman" was also the title track of an RCA album
released by Parton in 1968. Parton made her recording debut five years
earlier with "Dolly Parton Sings," also released by RCA, and the tribute
will serve to mark the 35th anniversary of that set.
Krauss appears on two tracks, turning in a solo version of "9 to 5" and
joining Union Station and Twain on a take of "Coat of Many Colors." Other
Parton classics rendered are "I Will Always Love You" by Melissa
Etheridge, "Jolene" by Mindy Smith and "The Seeker" by Shelby Lynne.

says "Nashville Hated Me" [Teen
Music]

Shania Twain upset the Nashville country music elite with her mega-selling
tunes - because they thought she was murdering the music.
The Canadian singer - whose 1997 album Come on Over has sold 34 million
copies worldwide - found starting out tough because country purists didn't
get her pop sound. "People thought I was ruining country - they'll
always believe that."
0307.10-Shania

Fans Come On Over [Timmins
Press]

The first ever World-wide Shania Twain Fan Convention, set for August
7-10, is music to the ears for fans of the pop/country superstar.
True to its name, fans from around the world have already registered, said
Tracy Hautanen, customer services manager for the centre.
“We have someone registered from Scotland and our first registrations came
in from California,” she said.
“People are coming from all over the United States, including New York and
Washington, and, of course, Ontario. We’re looking forward to having these
people come to our community.”
The Shania Twain Centre will be the nerve centre for the four-day
convention, which will open with a meet-and-greet bonfire and local
entertainment on August 7.
“It’s a gathering for the first people who get to town and they’ll receive
their convention kits,” Hautanen said.
Throughout the four days, fans will be treated to entertainment at the
centre ranging from a lip sync contest, a dance accompanied by videos of
Shania and a farewell brunch topped up with a group photograph.
“We definitely want to make sure it’s a good quality event and people are
going to have the Shania experience when they’re in Timmins,” she said.
Shania is not expected to attend the inaugural convention.
Hautanen said while there are fans interested in attending nonetheless
there are others who are waiting for the Timmins Superstar’s return.
“There are fans out there that are hoping to come when she is here - maybe
next year, maybe the year after — we don’t know,” Hautanen said.
The convention is starting small this year, anticipating 100 out-of-town
guests. Hautanen sees the convention growing over the years.
“We don’t anticipate a first-time event being huge, but everybody will get
the best Timmins welcome they can get and we know that in years to come it
will grow and become an annual event,” she said.
The event is being advertised on the various fan club sites because Shania
fans typically check them out on a regular basis, Hautanen said.
In fact, the format for the convention came about as a result of feedback
from the centre’s web site.
“People gave us their suggestions and we based our events list on those
suggestions,” she said.
Hautanen said she recognizes some of the names of those registered for the
convention from the names on the North American Online Fan Club as well as
others.

0307.02-On
her way [Irish Independent]
....Shania's
face blossoms into the sweetest happiness when the subject of her husband,
Robert John "Mutt" Lange, comes up. He is probably the most sought-after
producer in the music business (AC/DC, Cars, Def Leppard, Foreigner, Bryan
Adams, the Corrs and many others). In 1993, he heard about this amazing
singer from Canada and contacted her by phone.
Her South
African husband has been dubbed the Howard Hughes of the music business.
He shuns the limelight and is reputed to have bought up the rights to
every photograph of himself ever taken. He has also been described as a
total recluse who spends most of his time overseeing his international
business affairs from their home in Switzerland.
Shania laughs at this preposterously National Enquirer take on the man she
married. He is with her and their child in Dublin, she says. He is
publicity-shy but not at all reclusive.
"I'm the recluse!" she laughs. "It's the joke between us. I'm the recluse!
I could stay in the same small space for months on end and never see a
single person, and would be perfectly fine with that. He can't do that.
He's got to be out there exploring. He's got to know what's going on all
the time. He has an enquiring mind. He wants to know about people."
Rolling Stone magazine declared earlier this year that the fun-loving
persona portrayed on her records doesn't have much to do with Shania Twain
herself. The songs that reflect her real emotions, they wrote, she puts
away in a box and sometimes doesn't even let her husband listen to them.
Shania thinks this is pitiful psychobabble. "It's all me," she says. "The
reality is there's more sides to one person. I'm not just always this
bubbly, cheerful, positive, optimistic person, but that's the music that I
choose to share with the public. It's as simple as that. For live
performance, I just don't want to be in a melancholy mood.
"I want to be cheerful and energetic, and I like sweating up there, and I
like having a good time. That's my chance to get up there and party. Maybe
that is a reflection of the fact that all my life, my music has been my
escape.
