in store for fans going to Timmins:
According
to Tracy Hautanen from the Shania Twain Centre: "....We also have a

see the more private side of Shania" Tracy has been very busy once again

0407.22-Shania's
new horse [Nashville
Kat]:
Shania keeps increasing her stable & has added 3
Tennessee Walkers & a Canadian police horse but her new Arabian stallion,
Shania basically saved his life. For some reason, he was going to get put
down, so she adopted him.
0407.22-Shania's
stage arrives in Timmins [True
North]:
Singing
sensation Shania Twain has donated the stage she used during her Up Tour
to the City of Timmins. The 78x48 foot stage arrived in Timmins Thursday
night all the way from Florida where Shania ended her tour. Covered in
purple and white tissue confetti from the Office Depot Centre in Sunrise,
it is now stored in a Timmins-owned facility. Maintenance and Parks
Operations Manager Norm Beaudry says the stage, along with many other
items from the tour arrived in two 45 foot closed-in trailers. Beaudry
estimates the value of the stage is around a quarter of a million dollars.
"It blows my mind," exclaimed Beaudry. "Shania's also sending up her stage
crew to show us how to put it together and take it apart." Beaudry says
the stage itself is welded aluminum. Most of the deck is plexiglass that
lights up. Stools used by band members were sent, along with partially
used bottles of Windex that were used to clean the stage. Other treasures
Beaudry didn't want to reveal were also sent by Shania. The centre portion
of the stage will be sent at another time. The centre portion of the stage
belonged to another stage company, but Beaudry says Shania is having one
manufactured just to send to Timmins so the stage will be complete. The
stage will be on display during the Fan Club Convention which the Shania
Twain Centre is hosting in August.

0407.22-Lighting
Shania [Lighting
Dimensions]:
....We
cue so that we can use the cueing and still follow her, so she can do what
she chooses to. Spotlights help us a lot. Theoretically, you can take
everything away. As long as I've got spotlights, I have a show. Bottom
line, the show is her charm, her beauty, the way she works an audience,
the way she enjoys being part of the audience. So thank God for
spotlights, because that's the only way you can work around this type of a
challenge. For the most part, the lighting goes on. When she does end a
song differently one night to the next, and some of her endings are built
around her position on stage, that presents a challenge. You either grit
your teeth, close your eyes, wince, and get through it, or you try and
make it right. Sometimes we get a little cold water in the face if she
ends up somewhere that doesn't work from a lighting standpoint. We make
our notes and fix it for the next time. But that freedom, how to do the
songs and who to perform to, that's her choice. That's the magic here.

Fan Convention [Shania
Twain Centre]:
According to Tracy Hautanen at the Shania Twain Centre in Timmins, there
are more surprises in store for their Second Annual Worldwide fan
convention in August. It has already been announced that JD Blair and Cory
Churko from Shania's band will be attending. Also, Shania announced at her
last concert, that she has donated the stage used during the tour to the
Centre as well.
0407.12-Goodbye
Shania....[Country
Weekly]:
Emerson
Drive will miss touring with one of country's biggest stars - but they'll
miss her food just as much. "She had her own catering traveling with the
whole crew," says guitarist Danick Dupelle, "and they were from New
Zealand and Australia, and the food was just unbelievable. And one day I
said, 'I'm going to be careful about what I eat,' because you eat so well,
it's good food, and when there's good food like that and good dessert too.
And that's the problem - my diet just went down the drain."
0407.11-Goodbye
is the saddest word [STNAOFC]:
Shania's
Up! World Tour came to an emotional close yesterday (7/10/04) in Sunrise
Florida. Shania was brought to tears as she thanked her band and crew,
hugging them goodbye. At one point in the show after singing "Rock
This Country"
Shania
stood center stage, closed her eyes, and took in the sounds of the
cheering crowd. Shania also mentioned that the stage used for the tour
will be donated to the Shania Twain Centre in
Timmins. She wants her fans
to be able to stand on it, and feel what it was like to be up on stage.
Shania also mentioned that she would like to take her son one day to
see the stage in a couple of years to show him what his mom has done. To
read fan reviews check out the above link. Having been to the concert
myself, it was filled with some pretty powerful moments. Thank You
Shania, your fans love you Forever and For Always!!!!

is fantastic! [CountryStars]:
Shania
Twain took fellow countrymen, Emerson Drive, on her recent world tour, and
besides learning a ton about how a mega tour is put together and works,
the band says they were just blown away by how nice Shania and her gang
are to an opening act like them. "First of all just being around Shania
Twain and her whole crew is just been fantastic," says Brad Mapes. "And
what's striking is just the quality of people with her and how great,
down-to-earth people they are. From the musicians in her band, to the
techs around the stage they make us feel a part of the show and not just
the opening act. Many times the guys with would tell us, 'Hey you guys
this is your show too, we're all a part of this together,' so we feel part
of that big family that whole Shania Twain entourage and it's just great."

fans gather in August [CBC]:
Devotees
of Shania Twain will descend on Timmins, Ont. in August to take part in
the second annual convention for fans of the top-selling country singer.
The event is being hosted by the Shania Twain Centre, the museum dedicated
to chronicling her small-town roots that houses clothing displays, awards,
and other Twain memorabilia. This year's event, which takes place Aug. 5
to 8, features two special guests: drummer J. D. Blair and
fiddler/guitarist Cory Churko. The two are members of Twain's band, and
will share their experiences of life on the road with the singer. They
will also hold music clinics for fans, as well as local musicians.
Twain enthusiasts from as far away as Finland have already pre-registered
to attend the gathering. Once in Timmins, the participants will have the
chance to tour local sites connected to Twain's childhood and take part in
events such as a golf tournament. Many new items will be on display at the
centre, including some 100 plaques that Twain recently sent from her home
in Europe.
0407.04-"Shania
surprised us..." [Randall
Waller]:
Randall
Waller from Shania's band posted on his website more information on the
festivities at the New Orleans Concert.:
Actually it was the boss who surprised us with that
sign in the arena - we went there the day before having been told that we
would be recording a DVD there and we needed to practice for cameras
etc...
When we got into the arena she was in there, and all our names were put up
on the electronic tickertape around the arena - a lovely thought - so when
they put it up there again during 4 ever and always the other night during
the show, I guess the thought of it all coming to an end and not seeing a
lot of these people again got her a little choked up. It was a lovely
thought - the tickertape, the party and other stuff she has surprised us
with. She's been a great boss.

moved to tears [STNAOFC]
and [CountryNation]:
With only a handful of shows left on Shania Twain 's
140-date tour, her band and crew decided to surprise the boss with an
early goodbye in New Orleans on Tuesday night. The
Times Picayune's Keith Spera writes; "As Twain began singing her ballad
"Forever and For Always," the crew member's names scrolled across the
video halo that encircles the arena. Then, the scoreboards flashed, in
big, bright letters, 'Thank you Shania. We love you. Your band and crew.'
Caught off guard, tears streamed down her cheeks as she sang, 'I'm keeping
you forever and for always/We will be together all of our days.' Twain
struggled, with limited success, to maintain her composure. She cried,
apologized, and asked for a tissue."
