0306.25-Shania walks the walk [Toronto Star]:

Congratulations Shania!!!!  Shania received her star on the Canadian's Walk of Fame today, 06/25/03. Shania was asked a couple of questions:

The last of the stars to arrive was Twain who declared she was very honoured and found it fantastic to be back in the company of her fellow Canadians.
"It's really incredible when I travel around the world and people actually don't realize how many talented and famous people come out of Canada. And I'm always reminding them!"
Asked why she now lives in Switzerland, she replied that it was all part of the traveling that is required of her career.
"Who knows? Maybe some day I'll go full circle and end up right back in Timmins, Ont."
Asked about the new Shania Twain Centre that opened in Timmins in 2001 she said she was honoured.
"I thought museums were for dead people, so at first I wasn't too sure if I liked the idea. But I'm really proud of my hometown and I'm honoured that they have the centre there.
As soon as I slip out of this dress, it'll go off to the Shania Twain Centre."

0306.24-Not just a pretty face [Country Stars]:

When Shania Twain first hit Nashville she got a bit of the "just another chick singer with a pretty face" treatment, and she resented that.
"There's nothing more frustrating than to not be able to express yourself artistically," she complained. "And there's nothing more frustrating than being perceived as just another pretty face with a nice voice. Because, that's not all that I am. And I don't even claim to be that, but I'm just saying if that is the perception, I am more than that, I am absolutely more than that." Twain has long since proved her point as the most successful solo female country recording artist of them all.

0306.23-Around the World with Shania [Launch]:

As reported by Launch: Shania Twain will be taking this year's tour in support of her 2002 album Up! to new levels by making the international rounds. The superstar says she plans to perform in cities around the world for the first time.
Twain says her tour, which kicks off this fall, will also feature another undetermined entertainer who will open the show for the fans. "They can expect to see an opening act," Twain says. "I just don't know who that's going to be right now, and it's gonna start in October--the tour. Well, it'll start actually the last week of September. It's going to be a very international tour. I plan on going all the way around the world this time which is gonna be great fun, but, of course, I'll spend most of my touring in the U.S."
Twain says her re-emergence into the spotlight after a hiatus of a few years has been fairly painless. The most difficult part of the process was waiting for feedback on the new album, which was released last year and is already multi-platinum-selling. "I think the biggest adjustment period was--and it always is, every time I first release a CD--it's always just the anticipation of waiting for the reaction," Twain says. "And it always takes a little bit of time. But the CD is starting to surface now, and I'm starting to get a lot of really great feedback. So it's just starting to roll like all of the rest, and it's just finding its groove, I guess."
Twain will perform a free concert at Chicago's Grant Park on July 27. The show will be taped for an NBC special, scheduled to air sometime in August.

0306.22-He didn't impress her much [CMT]:

John DevoeJohn Devoe is a male model and aspiring actor who appeared in two Shania Twain videos. In "You're Still the One," he played the pretty bathtub boy. Then later, he really stretched by playing the pretty muscle boy in a muscle car for the "That Don't Impress Me Much" video.

He flirted with Shania through out the shoot of You're Still the One," Of course Shania shot him down, she was so amused, he later appeared in "That Don't Impress Me Much" as one of the guys that doesn't impress her much. He respects Shania for her work, and what she has done for Country Music. He says she used him as the sex symbol, she reversed the roles like she often does.

0306.19-Take her out to the ball game [Net Music]:

Some cities honor visiting celebrities by giving them the key to the city.

But, in Chicago, in the summer, there's no higher honor than to be invited to sing "Take Me Out To The Ball Game" at the 7th inning stretch for a Chicago Cubs game.

And next month when Shania is in Chicago to tape her TV special, she'll sing that venerated song on July 24th for a Cubs game. Shania will tape her free concert TV special on July 27th.

0306.17-The Mother In Me [Yahoo UK]:

Most working mums will tell you that life is hard, but ask Shania Twain and she'll tell you that she's finding being a mother and an international songstress pretty easy!

Of course, having earned millions of dollars over the years, you can probably imagine why! With her pots of cash, Ms Twain could quite easily afford to hire a nanny - or ten if she wanted to - to look after her two year old son Eja.

But Shania says her successful balance of being a mum and hard grafter has nothing to do with her wealth, she thinks she's just very adaptable to new things in her life.

"I'm not really finding it all that difficult," Twain said. "I kind of go with the flow when it comes to life and music. I think it's because for me, it's all the same thing. I've been doing it from such a young age. Having a child was just something that fell in naturally. It's not like fame and stardom and all of that stuff happened all at once and then all of a sudden I had a child," Twain said. "It's all happened very, very gradually over a very long period of time. For instance, I waited to have a child. I'm 37-years-old, so I think I'm at the point of maturity where it's all falling into a very natural place."

0306.11-"Get out of town?" [NetMusic]:

Back in 1993 when Shania started collaborating with Mutt Lange on her second album, she thought for sure it would get her kicked out of Nashville, however Luke Lewis was very pleased they hooked up. Net Music reports the following story:

Shortly after her debut album proved to be less than a hit, Shania Twain met Mutt Lange and quietly began writing songs with him.
She didn't tell the head of her record company, Luke Lewis, until he asked her when she was going to begin her second album. "When he heard about Mutt, he said, "'You just made my day,' he was just so excited," Shania tells us. "And I was like wow, because I thought this would get me kicked out of Nashville. And I think it might have if it hadn't been for Luke who could see the potential there. So, I was very lucky to have him in my corner."

0306.07-Another alternate version:

It seems since Up! was released Shania has produced alternate versions of her videos. Well, her new video is no exception. "Forever and For Always", is now being shown on CMT Canada in an alternate form. This version has Shania walking and singing on the beach in New Zealand. The story of the kids, has not been included. Make sure you request this version of the video on CMT. While we wait for CMT to show this version it is available on-line. Click here.

"I'm so looking forward to coming back to the States to play a full concert. Playing live in front of the fans is what I enjoy the most. 0306.01-Twain's World [Telegraph]:

Shania talks about clothes, music, Mutt, Eja and the songs she will never share.......Whatever the reason, she refuses to record her sad songs. She won't even play them to Mutt, except under duress. Why not? Do those songs expose too much of her?

'It's not 'cause I'm afraid of being… "Exposed" wouldn't be a good word. It's not that… I just wouldn't.'

Normally, Shania talks with consummate ease and confidence, but here she falters. 'I would lose them,' she says finally of these personal songs.

'The purpose of them is just simply for my own self-indulgence. They maybe wouldn't be valuable to anybody else. A big question I always get is, "Why do you always write stuff that's chirpy and tongue-in-cheek?" I even get criticized for it sometimes: "Can't you write anything deeper than that?" 'But the reality is that it takes you into a whole other place. And I just don't wanna go there. And the stuff that I do write that's like that' - sad, that is - 'just seems to be the stuff I enjoy by myself. Once I share it, it's not there any more. I just don't have the urge to commercialize and to record it.' ......The anxieties of her childhood are still with her, she admits. She wishes she could be a 'more patient, understanding, gracious person.' Country Man again - in the light of her recent appearance with Willie Nelson, will she give us a 'burst'? Sure. The right hand goes up, the eyes close, and, unaccompanied, Shania Twain sings a verse of Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain. She seems to find it easy.
