from Shania's "secret project":
A Shania fan took the following pictures of Shania at a photo shoot in
Vancouver Shania was doing for an upcoming promotion for America's
Harvest:

throws party for her crew [STNAOFC]:
Shania told her crew, and her band to show up at the arena in New Orleans,
on their day offs so they could film some stuff for an upcoming DVD. Well,
when they showed up, they found out Shania was really throwing a party.
Shania wanted to thank everyone for their hard work during her world tour.
Some members of the crew would not be able to stay for the party after the
last show, so Shania threw a party so everyone could be there.
0406.28-White
water rafting [CountryStars]:
Shania Twain decided to take a break from her nearly
year-long tour with a refreshing day of white water rafting. She shared
the experience in a wild Oregon river with opening act, EMERSON DRIVE, and
her whole crew last week. ALSO, IT'S OFFICIAL - Shania Twain will release
her first greatest hits collection this fall. After Shania wraps her UP!
World Tour in July, the superstar will head into the studio to write and
record a few new tracks for the hits CD.

donates item to charity [EBay]:
Remember
Shania Twain's Glamour magazine cover from October 2003? Well now you can
win that cover, matted and framed - along with a couple of never-before
seen pictures from that photo shoot. Shania is donating the cover plus two
Polaroid test prints. Test Polaroids are used at photo shoots to check
lighting, composition and other elements of the photograph before the
actual shoot begins. Typically the Polaroid prints are destroyed but
Shania graciously donated two of them - even autographing one - to Gilda's
Club Nashville. All proceeds from the sale of this item will benefit
Gilda's Club Nashville, a social and emotional support community for men,
women and children whose lives have been touched by cancer. All services
at Gilda's Club are provided free of charge. To bid, go to ebay.com and
search for item #3821994176. But hurry, because the auction ends this
Friday, June 25. Additional information can be found at
www.gildasclubnashville.org.

works on new "secret" project:
Shania was mentioned in the "The Backlot" section of today's (June 19,
2004) Vancouver Sun:
She's cool: Don't be jealous, but I spent
Wednesday with Shania Twain.
On her day off before the Thursday night concert, Twain spent about nine
hours shooting print ads for a secret new product she'll endorse this
fall, with much of the proceeds going to her hungry children's charity,
Second Harvest. We were there to tape it all for Access Hollywood. First,
we met in a gorgeous mountain meadow near Mission where butterflies,
buttercups, bobcat, lynx and black bears cavort under the watchful eye of
Mt. Baker. Twain posed for photos in a white, off the shoulder top and
pants, stopping often to sniffle into a tissue as the hay fever kicked in.
Then, back in the city, folks gathered around to watch her get snapped
while snuggled in a hammock at Jericho Park. At sunset, we headed over to
Spanish Banks, where in a bright orange, diaphanous chiffon skirt flailing
in the breeze, Twain posed for hundreds more shots.

"40 Greatest Sexiest Videos" #1 Female:
Shania had three videos on the CMT USA show
40 Greatest Sexiest Videos. "Forever and For Always" place #11, comments
ranged from "Shania always makes classy sexy videos" to "it is a very
romantic video". Shania's hit from Come On Over "Man! I Feel Like A
Woman!" placed at #6. Comments included, "if you look up sexy in the
dictionary, there will be a picture of Shania in this video". The last
video to place on the list was "You're Still The One", at #2. It was
called "one of the most beautiful videos ever made". The number #1 spot
went to Keith Urban. So, Shania was the #1 sexiest female artist on the
list. Congratulations Shania, and well done Shania fans for voting on the
poll.
0406.18-"Greatest
Hits" CD news [Net
Music]:
As has been previously announced, Shania is releasing a Greatest Hits CD
sometime this November. Another piece of news is that the CD will contain
3 brand new songs. This will obviously buy Shania
more time to transition from world-touring mode back to studio recording
artist for her next album. Twain has promised she won’t take as long this
time between new studio albums.

still battling a cold [STNAOFC]:
According
to DAX, a member of STNAOFC who was at the Vancouver show last night
(6/17/04) said Shania is still battling a cold. Shania
said, "there are two things that make you humble, having a baby and
blowing your nose in front of thousands of people." Shania
was also battling a cold back in May during her stops in North Carolina.
Get well soon Shania!!!
0406.16-"Thank
God for Shania!" [Countrynation]:
In the cover story of the new CMT Country Music
Today magazine, Reba McEntire says that in the old days, an artist picked
20 songs, recorded 10, and released 3 as singles. She explains that
no one went deep into an album until Shania Twain released all those
singles from "Come On Over." Now, Reba has big plans for "Room to
Breathe". She wants to release 8 singles from the CD -- and thanks Shania
for being able to do so. "Thank God for Shania. She changed that mindset.
Leave it to Shania to shake things up," says Reba.

gets them good in Edmonton [Canoe]:
...her sugar-frosted, from-the-heart brand of
country-pop (or in some cases plain ol' pop-pop, 'cept maybe with a little
bit of electric fiddle) crosses more musical boundaries than any other
mainer-than-mainstream act out there. And because she really, really knows
how to entertain. And because people really, really like her. And she
really, really likes her people. Jogging onto the stage while the
audience's attention was diverted by a silhouette of a fake-Shania, the
hot mom from Timmins, Ont., launched straight into Man! I Feel Like A
Woman, leaving the women in the sold-out crowd of 16,500 or so feeling
just that much more womanly, and their men presumably wanting them that
much more...Shania's love for her fans was also in full effect.
0406.10-Shania
got'em good in Saskatoon [Star Phoenix]:
She got 'em. She got 'em good. Country-pop superstar Shania Twain sent
spirits Up! Up! Up! into the rafters of SaskPlace Wednesday night in a
feel-good concert that broke down the walls between performer and audience

0406.09-Shania
storms Winnipeg [Canoe]:
The
pint-sized Timmins, Ont. native's catchy crossover sound had the audience
hooked from the get-go when she entered the Arena running through the
crowd and launched into Man! I Feel Like a Woman!, her breakthrough hit
off 1997's Come On Over. The oval stage was set up in the middle of the
arena floor with two lighted ramps leading to a central platform allowing
Twain and her eight-piece band to play to the farthest corners of the
building. If you didn't bring binoculars, eight video screens provided up
close views of every booty shake and hand gesture. All the while Twain
strutted, ran and bounced all over the stage while accepting flowers from
audience members, slapping their hands and signing autographs

deaf girl, hears Shania for the first time [In
Forum]: Morgan Leapaldt's first
sounds were the clinical chirp of a beeping computer and her mother's
expectant voice. "Hello Morgan – can you hear me?" Those words, spoken two
months ago, reintroduced 12-year-old Morgan to the world of sound, a world
that had been closed to her since she was 7 months old. Morgan jumped on
hearing them, startled by the intensity of what she'd been missing. Today,
the girl from Leeds, N.D., eagerly anticipates another introduction to
sound. She's in town to hear the Shania Twain concert at the Fargodome –
an event her mother hopes won't overwhelm her daughter's developing sense
of hearing....Dancing, in fact, is what first drew Morgan to the music of
Shania Twain. Although she couldn't hear the music, Morgan enjoyed
watching music videos on television, and loved to dance along with Shania
Twain.
So how was the concert????? Morgan Leapaldt was one
of 18,223 pairs of ears at the Shania Twain concert Saturday at the
Fargodome. Hers undoubtedly were among the most enthusiastic. The concert
was a first for the 12-year-old – whose hearing was restored two months
ago by a cochlear implant. Morgan, who lost her hearing at the age of 7
months, offered a succinct review of the concert: "Good. Loud." That
assessment was relayed Monday by her mother, Gay, who said her daughter
bought three souvenir photos of the country star as mementos. "When it
first started she just started crying," Gay Leapaldt said. "I asked her
what was wrong and she said, 'I'm just so happy.'"..."She had a good
time," Gay said. "When we were finished she said, 'I'm ready for another
concert.'"
0406.08-"Kitsch
my butt" [Toronto
Sun]:
Shania's
wardrobe manager, Ariane Martin, who has been on the road with Canada's
crossover country diva since last September, said the ranking was
laughable. Shania has placed third on Blackwell's worst dressed list.
Martin feels sure Twain doesn't even look at things
like Blackwell's list.
"If they are going to compare what she wears on stage with what another
actress or singer wears on the carpet, it's like comparing apples to
oranges.
"Shania is confident enough in her personal style to wear something fun
for stage and glamorous for events. She knows the difference between the
two, even if Blackwell doesn't."

0406.03-"Band
Geeks" become cool [Quad
City Times]:
..."I received a call Sunday night from Shania
Twain's music director, who was really in a bind," said Mike Dynes, band
director at BHS. "She needed drummers to back Shania up for one song at
her Monday night concert at The Mark. She thought Central High School was
lined up, but found out at the last minute that they were unavailable."
Central High School's loss was certainly Bettendorf's gain. Twain's music
director gave simple but firm instructions to the drummers; just keep the
beat, click your sticks when we want the audience to clap their hands,
wear your ear plugs and don't move around. An embarrassing moment for Alex
turned into a moment of glory when he dropped a stick on stage. "Shania
picked it up for me," Alex said. "When she handed it to me, she rubbed my
arm. I don't plan to ever wash that spot again." When the concert and the
drummers' three minutes of glory were over, the teens started to file out
with the rest of the sold-out crowd...Today is the day that the 'band
geeks' became cool," Greg Dwyer said. To which, Bill Michaels added, "Band
has got to be the coolest thing at Bettendorf High School, at least for
today."
0406.03-Poor
touring season, few bright spots:
Hits Daily Double reports.....With
the exception of sold-out tours by Madonna and Prince, along with a
handful of others, this summer’s touring season is turning out to be a
disappointment, according to a survey of promoters around the
country...Country artists like Alan Jackson/Martina McBride, Shania
Twain and Kenny Chesney also look unaffected by the downturn.
As a matter of fact, Shania has broken
many an attendance record at venues across the USA, Canada, and Europe.
