Shania's European leg of her highly successful Up! World Tour came to an end this evening in Antwerp. Shania's Up! tour is on it's way to eclipse her record setting Come On Over Tour. Shania will be taking time off, before returning to North America for the second US and Canadian leg of the tour.

In spite some folks saying Shania might some day go completely pop, she says that'll never happen. "I mean I'll never not be country, how can you not ," Shania asks. "How can you be something and then not be it any more? I mean I just don't understand that. Country is so deep in my roots and such a huge part of my youth, my most impressionable years, that it's just not going anywhere and I think even for people who listen to me in pop and all that sort of thing, the style of the way I write, which is very conversational lyrics, very real lifestyle lyrics, comes from my country roots."

Shania sets another record on her Up! World Tour.

Shania Twain broke box office and ticket sales records when her European tour reached the M.E.N. Arena, Manchester. The one night show sold over 18,300 tickets and grossed in the region of three quarter of a million pounds. Before the performance, fellow Canadian John Suntherland (right), Managing Director of SMG Europe, made a presentation to Shania Twain to honour her achievement as the highest selling female artist across the 8 venues in the group. Promoter Stuart Galbriath of Clear Channel Entertainment looks on (left). CONGRATULATIONS SHANIA!!!!

....Tracy Hautanen said a lot more people have been talking about coming this year. “This year we hope to have a lot more numbers,” said the customer service manager at the Shania Twain Centre. “We hope to have more local people this time around.” The dates of the 2004 convention were posted on the Centre’s Web site recently, causing a huge spike in the number of hits....The details of this year’s convention have not yet been finalized, but don’t expect to see Shania in town. “We never plan the convention with hopes of Shania attending,” Hautanen said. However, this year organizers are trying to get “someone from Shania’s past” to be a special guest. The itinerary for the event should be similar to the inaugural convention. “We hope to keep it to about the same as last year,” Hautanen said. “We’re also adding in some new fun and exciting activities.” She said one of the big hits at last year’s convention was the auction. “We’ve already started collecting articles for this year’s convention and it should be amazing once again,” Hautanen said. “(Shania) is very supportive when it comes to auction items for the convention.”

I was able to attend last year's convention and it is a great way to see what Shania's hometown is like, and get a chance to see a lot Shania's video outfits, wedding dress, and the most impressive display is the song notes to all her songs. It gives you a chance to see what didn't make it into the final versions of the songs, and just how she and Mutt put a song together. This convention sounds even more interesting than the first. Check out the Centre's website for further details when they are finally posted.

This appears to be an old story, but I thought I would post it:

One of the first things Shania bought for herself when the big bucks started rolling in was a couple of horses to ride. Here stable has grown since then.
“Yeah, I have three Tennessee Walkers and I have one Canadian police horse. And that’s a warm blood, that’s a whole other thing altogether. And then I adopted an Arabian stallion, a little Arabian stallion, he’s really quite something. I just saved his life, he was going to get put down and I adopted him so he’s kind of the newest of the batch,” Twain says of her growing stable.

Shania hurt her back on the UK leg of the tour was in need of a chiropractor before her Manchester show:

Pain-buster Adam Wilkey is a big hit with his new number one fan - country diva Shania Twain. The multi-million record-selling star called him up recently at his Pudsey chiropractor clinic when she hurt her back on the UK leg of her sell-out world tour. With just hours to go before the petite Canadian star was due to belt out a string of her hits at the MEN Arena in Manchester in front of 20,000 adoring fans, Mr Wilkey made a mercy dash to help get her on stage out of pain He said he got a call to say she was in real need and asking him to `come on over' as soon as he could. "They were really quite insistent she needed urgent treatment," he said. After a 30-minute treatment the relieved songstress - who has sold a whopping 34 million records worldwide - was ready for the show to go on. And as a big thank you to Mr Wilkey she rewarded him with a signed photo and ringside seats for that night's performance. He said: "I'm not a huge music fan but she is a lovely person. I enjoyed the show but couldn't switch off from looking all the time to see if there was anything she was doing to make her back problems worse. "She is very petite and has a radio mike strapped to the back of her neck all the time which probably doesn't help." And he said all the bending down, leaning forward to greet fans, signing autographs, shaking hands and tugging people from the audience up on to stage could also be putting pressure on the singing star's back. Now he is sending Shania's management some words of advice to pass on to the performer. "Basically I'm advising her not to twist herself up so much on stage. She's a bit of a contortionist. She's had problems with her back before and isn't new to being treated by a chiropractor, she was very open to this kind of healing." Mr Wilkey said he took one newspaper's review of the concert as a personal compliment when it described Shania as looking relaxed.

Shania has the top tour so far in 2004. The average gross per show is $1,121,822. Congratulations SHANIA!!! Makes you wonder why the ACM didn't nominate her for Entertainer of the Year.

Well, if there is one constant in the Universe it is Nashville's constant shunning of Shania Twain. Despite all of her accomplishments, Nashville continues in their old and very predictable ways. Shania was only nominated for Top Female Vocalist.

0403.09-Worldwide Fan Convention [STC]:

The Shania Twain Centre in Timmins Ontario has announced the dates for their 2nd Annual Worldwide Fan Convention. Keep checking their site for details. I have been to Timmins every summer since the Shania Twain Centre opened. Getting to see town Shania grew up in is a really awesome fan experience. The Shania Twain Centre has some really nice exhibits on display. Some of them are: Shania's wedding dress, Shania and Mutt's song notes from all of her albums, plus awards, and dresses, and video outfits that Shania has donated. I attended the First Fan Convention, and had a great time.

While Shania was in Munich on March 2, she also had the opportunity to "get your hands dirty". .Her handprints were taken for the German Walk of Fame in Olympia Park. Shania was the first woman to have her hand prints in the cement on the German Walk of Fame! Congratulations Shania!!!!!

Shania took top honors at the Echo Awards in Germany last night for the Best female international artist.. Shania could not attend, but sent a video taped message.

0403.02-Emerson Drive gearing Up! [CMT Canada]:

The six guys of Emerson Drive had a blast touring with fellow Canadian Shania Twain and are eager to go again. The band talked about hanging with Twain and played some songs from their new album, What If? at a recent Nashville press luncheon. They said that Twain and her husband, Mutt Lange, speak only French to their son, Eja, figuring it will be easy for him to pick up English later on. Since the band is bilingual as well, things went swimmingly backstage. And it was all very democratic. "We are integrated," explains fiddler David Pichette. "Shania comes and sits down with us. Mutt Lange is around all the time." The band will be going back on the road with Twain in April. Emerson Drive performed "Waitin' on Me," "November," "I'll Die Tryin'" and their current single, "Last One Standing." The album, due for release on May 18, was produced by Grammy-winning pop singer Richard Marx. Lead vocalist Brad Mates described "I'll Die Tryin'" as "the ballad we feel the strongest about." They all felt strongly about their new tour bus. Lamented keyboardist Dale Wallace, "We were traveling around in a '72 Greyhound with no toilet for a long, long time."

0403.02-Shania signs for the Phoenix! [Manchester]:
Shania Twain, the biggest selling solo female artist of all time, gave Manchester Phoenix a huge lift going into the most important weekend in the Club's brief history. Shania donned a Phoenix shirt for her gig at the Manchester Evening News Arena on Thursday night, as part of her "Up - World Tour." Phoenix pulled off the coup ahead of Manchester's other sports teams through the Teams canadian links. Phoenix owner Neil Morris commented "It was good of Shania to show her support... we will find a way to show our thanks!"
