I have completed some updates to the site. I have Updated the appearances page, and updated some of the graphics on certain pages. I have also completed two Thanksgiving Wallpapers. Shania has sure kept us busy with all her recent performances. I hope to have a page of the appearances she has done, with some of the video captures and pictures from them this weekend. TWAIN ON EVE OF RELEASING HER "HOME-GROWN" NEW ALBUM
For nearly three weeks now, Shania Twain has been talking about all the aspects of her new album UP!, When it hits retail stores tomorrow, Shania tells us one of the things she's proudest of is that she's delivering to country fans a "real" album, no techno-synthesized magic, just a consistent, live-recorded album. "The quality of the record comes from the fact that it's not a programmed record. It's all real musicians; it's just very real. Mutt plays a lot on the record, it's all our vocals…it's a home-grown, hand-made record." The record is so home-grown that there are no outside, or guest harmony vocals. "No, just us," Shania confirms.

UP! SHIPS QUADRUPLE PLATINUM DOMESTIC SALES
When Universal Distribution distributed the double-disc album they broke their record by sending off 4.1 million units (ultimately Shania will be certified OCTUPLE PLATINUM for 8.2 million albums shipped according to RIAA).

SHELTON BIG TWAIN FAN
Shania Twain has had her share of detractors, but Blake Shelton isn't one of them. "I'm a huge Shania Twain fan," Blake declares. "To me, her record hits- those are my favorite albums just to sit and listen to and I'll probably never even meet her or Mutt Lange. I could just sit and every time I hear one of her records I hear something new that I didn't hear the time before. Whether one of them's a genius or a combination of the two are geniuses, there's some genius happening there. And if you want to argue with that, go pick up a Billboard and look at the album charts and see where she's sold 20 million copies of her second album and probably as many of her first album and argue with that.

Shania on the style of her music...

CMT: The face of country has changed a lot since you’ve been gone. There’s a whole resurgence of bluegrass. Do you think that your music is still going to be able to fit in with this new face?
Twain: I don’t know, I mean … I have no idea. I never try to fit into any specific place. When I’m making my music, I actually stop listening to everything that’s going on. I don’t want to know what’s going on. I’m not trying to fit in. I’m not trying to be like everybody else. I have my own space. I’m my own thing, and whether the listeners want that or not -- that I can never know. How can I know that? I could be more sure and pay close attention to what everyone else is doing and try to follow, but I’m not a follower. I want to set my own path, and I’d rather do that and take the risk.

As for the purist naysayers, Twain sneers playfully: "As if I care ...
"Look, I know I push the country music envelope, but so have most of the country artists I love — Dolly Parton, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson. The purists didn't like them at first either. I'm not a purist. I'm just trying to find a place where my music fits.
"And when you get down to it, I'm as country as it gets. I know traditional country artists better than most of the country singers who put me down.
"You'll never hear any of these new guys singing politically incorrect songs like `Take This Job And Shove It!' like Johnny Paycheck did in the 1970s, or women singing about abortion, like Dolly did.
"Those songs were their identities. I lived and breathed those songs. I'm the real deal.
"I'm no cowgirl. ... Hell, I'm a bush girl, and that's much tougher!"

0211.16-Shania Goes Quadruple Platinum:

In anticipation of the massive demand for Shania's new album Up! Mercury has shipped 4.1 million copies in the United States. Universal Canada has also shipped 400,000 units, which is counted as quadruple platinum. Way to go Shania!!

0211.10-What's Up! with all the versions? [Neil Haislop]

Shania wants to set the record straight, so to speak. There's been a misconception regarding the double CD set for UP!. It was originally announced that there would be a country version with a second CD of pop remixes. Shania declares, "They actually are not remixes. We have three authentic, re-recorded CDs with live musicians."
Shania has color-coded them. Green is for country. Red is pop. Blue is Asian.

-- Shania Twain was guest of honor at an exclusive party near Nashville Thursday night (November 7) to listen to her forthcoming UP! album. The new project, which will be in stores on November 19, is a natural progression for the superstar, she told LAUNCH.
"There are a lot of new things, a lot of new sounds. I think it's a mix of everything. I'm really happy with it. I think it's the best album I've written so far and there's a lot of music on the album, there's a lot of music for everybody and I think it's for all the different audiences that I've sort of been lucky enough to pick up along the way which is really great. I've had a great chance to explore."

SHANIA! THE SEXY SUPERSTAR ON HER NEW BABY, LIFE AS A WIFE -- AND HER PLAN TO CONQUER THE WORLD! Some excerpts:

On Eja's first birthday....

Shania is equally strict about the baby’s diet – unhealthy snacks and sweets are definitely out. There was one notable exception: Eja’s first birthday this past Aug. 12. To mark the occasion, Shania baked her specialty, a double-layer chocolate cake. “That was really his first time to have any kind of unnatural sweets,” Shania says.
She laughs as she recalls Eja’s reaction to his birthday treat. “We got out a video camera, so we could film him in his little party hat,” Shania recalls. “We were waiting for this great Kodak moment, where he smooshes his face in the cake and it gets all over his hair.
“But he is such a neat and tidy eater! He just touched the cake a little bit, tasted it and decided he didn’t want any more,” she giggles. “So I never got the Kodak moment!”

On the day of the album's release, November 19th, Twain visits David Letterman. She hits the "Today" show on November 26th, which happens to be the day her first NBC special airs. She will sing on the "American Music Awards" on January 13th -- and the next day, appears on the "Tonight Show with Jay Leno." Win a chance to see Shania at the AMA's!!!

Shania Twain kicked off the CMA Awards on Wednesday (November 6) with a welcome return to the stage. Twain made her much anticipated return to Nashville and the music scene after several years off performing her new single, ""I'm Gonna Getcha Good!" After the performance, the CMA's 1999 entertainer of the year told reporters how she felt about her return. "It didn't have the sort of scary impact that I thought it would because I actually started promotion in Europe a couple of months ago, so I've been able to do quite a bit of TV before coming here. But being back here is special. It was really, really great."

A veteran of the media blitz that surrounds stars, Twain is unruffled about the upcoming hoopla that is bound to greet her the moment her plane touches down in North America. And she's not at all concerned about the shape of her famous midriff, although she admits it'll be water cooler fodder no matter what she wears to perform. "If I cover it up they're going to wonder, oh, what is she trying to hide?" laughs Twain, 37, over the phone from her home on the banks of Lake Geneva in Tour-de-Peilz, Switzerland. "I certainly didn't focus on (body image) myself. I decided to have a baby when I was really ready and that meant I was ready to give up my figure because you don't know what kind of figure you're going to end up with after."
