Shania was presented with a "BMI Million Air Certificate" for her song "Forever and For Always", (A Million-Air Certificate is in recognition of those songs that have had two million or more US performances.) This is Shania's 2nd Million-Air Certificate. Shania received one for "(If You're Not In It For Love) I'm Outta Here!", which was honored for passing 3 Million plays/spins. Congratulations Shania!!!

Shania Twain grew up with parents who made their living by replanting trees in the Canadian forest land. Turns out they planted something else along the way--the love of making music in their daughter, Shania, when she was just a little sapling herself. “I started singing when I was three--I sang on key,” Shania proudly says. “I mean I was into harmonies by the time I was 6. I was bored with the melody, let's get on to harmonies. I mean I listened to the Mamas and the Papas and The Carpenters, which were totally inspiring as far as parts are concerned. But, my mother created my first stage when I was three--that was in restaurants. She'd get me up on the counter top to sing to the juke box.”

Shania and other UMG artists will soon play on your phone. “We can now create specific radio channels that are dedicated to their artists and include much, much more than simply music,” Motorola director of product marketing Dave Ulmer tells Billboard Radio Monitor. An artist’s channel might, for example, include tour dates, album release dates, new singles and back catalog. “A whole selection of stuff that’s very focused to their specific fan and gives [artists] a direct connection to that fan,” Ulmer says

0511.26-Shania wraps on The Apprentice [NBC]:

During the episode the two teams battled to promote Shania's perfume, "Shania" by Stetson. The teams used a marketing strategy known as "wrapping" to get as many phone calls as possible by taking to the streets of Manhattan. Team Excel received the most calls, and won a day with Shania. Randall, and Rebecca went horseback riding with Shania, and then went to dinner with her as well. You can see the Shania clip on Yahoo.

At the dinner for the winning team EXCEL in The Apprentice "Shaniagans", episode Rebecca asked Shania if there was any secret to success. The "Shaniagans" episode of "The Apprentice" aired Thanksgiving night. The show finished 2nd in its timeslot, with an Overnight Rating of 5.4/10. Since Music Row loves to brag, spin and twist things as we saw with who had the biggest tour. I would like to note, their two favorites Kenny Chesney (Overnight Rating of 5.2/9) and Faith Hill (with an abysmal Overnight Rating of 4.4/7) finished LAST (on the 3 major networks) in their respective timeslots the night before. That means Shania once again is the country ratings champ during the Thanksgiving holiday. Someone may want to ask the Warren Brothers who the "Queen of Country Music" really is.

On this week's "Apprentice," Donald Trump delivers the task -- each team must create a call-in campaign to promote the "Shania by Stetson" fragrance by using the advertising technique of "wrapping." Whoever gets the most calls to its 800 number wins. Season one "Apprentice" winner Bill Rancic steps in to replace George Ross this week. One team sabotages their competition after getting wind of their plans. In one of the closest boardroom wins ever, the winning team beats out their competition by a mere five calls. The winners saddle up and share a dinner with world-famous country music star Shania Twain as the losing team heads into the boardroom to determine the final four.

0511.18-Shania receives the Order of Canada:

Shania was awarded the "Order of Canada",( the highest honor given to Canadian citizens) by Governor General Michaelle Jean, during a ceremony at Rideau Hall in Ottawa on November 18th. You can see video of the ceremony on line at: CTV and Channel 3 news in Timmins. Ch3 At a press conference following the ceremony, Shania answered questions in both English and French, Shania described the experience as "life changing," according to the Globe and Mail. "It was a big, big surprise for me," she stated. "It's a big honor for me." She also acknowledged her hometown. "Timmins is my home," Shania said. "When I think of Canada, I think of Timmins." Congratulations Shania!!!

Shania will be on the November 24th episode of "The Apprentice" starting at 9pm. The teams compete to come up with a promotional campaign for Shania's new perfume "Shania" by Stetson. The episode is entitled "Shaniagans".

0511.17-Shania's new school program [CTV]:

Her recent charitable work for Canadian children gets her most excited during interviews. Perhaps her memories of sometimes being hungry as a child prompted her to give a boost to underprivileged children. An unnamed school in Ontario receives from Twain a salary for a full-time teacher who provides needy children with good food and private tutoring. The program is customized for each school, offering lessons in life skills such as cooking, as well as academic assistance if needed. "Our pilot year was a great success, and all the kids in the school benefit, it brings them together," Twains says. "The program is growing as the school board adds two more schools. It's working, so I'm very excited and very happy about it." "The goal is to get the entire country on the program," Twain said with a laugh. It is an idea that is probably sweeter than the perfume bearing her name.

Shania also presented Television producer/booker Mark Bracco the 2005 "CMA Media Achievement Award" The CMA Media Achievement Award was established to recognize outstanding achievements in the media as they relate to Country Music.

0511.16-Order of Canada update [Canada.com]:

...The huge interest in the ceremony prompted Rideau Hall officials to issue a statement yesterday saying the event is closed to the public. An Order of Canada ceremony in June with Paul Anka sparked so many requests from the public to attend that Rideau Hall is enforcing its policy of limiting the event to recipients, guests and the media. Ms. Twain was nominated in June for an Order of Canada, but her name was not mentioned on the list of recipients released in September. At that time, the singer had not given an indication she was accepting the award, said a Rideau Hall spokeswoman. "We had not been able to communicate with her because of her busy schedule," spokeswoman Lucie Brosseau said yesterday. "She let us know three weeks ago that she was coming to the ceremony." Order of Canada recipients can bring up to four guests to the ceremony and it's not known whether her husband, record producer Robert (Mutt) Lange, is accompanying her, she said. The reclusive Mr. Lange rarely appears in public and is not usually photographed with his wife...

Twain glittered in a Mark Bouwer frock. "There's always something that goes wrong" she said of getting ready. "My shoes kept getting caught on the bottom of my dress so we had to put pins on the bottom. That was stressful."

By far the biggest news today, is that Shania Twain will be receiving the Order of Canada this Friday, November 18th.

0511.15-Shania goes riding [Canada.com]:

Shania appeared on the Martha Stewart show earlier today. Shania cooked Poutine, and went horseback riding with Martha. Prior to her evening appearance on the Country Music Awards, the music diva dropped in on Stewart, donned a white apron, and proceeded to educate the domestic diva about the joys of poutine (which Stewart pronounced poo-tin'). I have never made poutine, something called poutine, and actually I've never even eaten poutine," confessed Stewart. "Oh, it's heartbreaking," lamented Twain when Stewart insisted the Internet described the snack as a Canadian junk food. When asked if poutine means "mess" in French, Twain confessed she didn't know. "This actually smells good," added a surprised Stewart as the recipe came together, but neither celebrity sampled it on camera. In the end, it proved to be a more high-end dish, though, than what eastern Canadians might purchase at a roadside chip stand. The gravy was based on Shania's own recipe which includes white wine and mushrooms, but the singer stressed that there were too many mushrooms in the final result.

Shania presented the Entertainer of the Year Award. However she lost in the Musical Event category, like that was any surprise. This had to be the most boring CMA Show I have ever seen. So much for the excitement of coming to New York City.

Shania : "I think just not to be so hard on yourself. And the fans taught me that. They are so accepting. And you can go out there and do a really bad job, and you didn't hit that note, and the fans loved it anyway. And I questioned that for a long time. It's a searching thing you do with yourself. I thought, "I'm not worthy of all this praise. But these people are accepting and so forgiving. For a while I didn't get it. Then I thought it's just my perception of it all. I have to accept that they like what I do, whether I like what I did or not. And that's challenging. It's a very challenging thing when you're a performer. That just really helped me a lot because I enjoy myself more by accepting that. And that's a very good lesson in life and I'll take that with me in everything I do." From Good Housekeeping from this past September: Since she had her son, four years ago, the sexy singer sometimes skips the lipstick: "The baby likes to feed me, touch me, kiss me, and I don't like leaving a mark on him." But she confesses to being "very big on fragrance" and has just created her own: Shania, with notes of jasmine, mandarin, and sandalwood. Her trick for making a scent long lasting: "I spritz it on the cuffs of my coat or pants."

Because it is an unauthorized biography (the credits say "inspired" by Twain's life), there are some noticeable gaps in the storyline. It ends with Shania accepting a phone call from future producer - and husband - Mutt Lange, a call that would change her life forever. But that's another film, perhaps. Officially, Shania Twain had nothing to do with the project other than to wish Henderson and the crew luck. Producer Phyllis Platt assures no legal issues had been expressed and that Twain had even sent some CDs to the set. "She was obviously a bit nervous because when somebody takes your life story, it's always hard to tell, if you don't know them, what they're going to do," Henderson says. "I really tried my best to capture her story, but you never know. She's led a really hard life and it's difficult when you're in the eye where your story is public domain. Shania has been nominated for "Country Artist of the Year" and "Country Album of the Year". The awards will be handed out December 6th.

0511.01-Shania Movie sneak peak [Channel 3]:

Timmins reporter, Corinna Wrona reported on the new Shania Movie that will be shown on the CBC November 7th. The movie was filmed in Sudbury, and not in Timmins, Shania's hometown. Timmins' is relegated to still images of bar signs, some of which Shania never appeared in. You can discuss the movie with other fans here.
