Since giving birth last year, Shania Twain has focused on feeding time and changing diapers. Now with the release of her new album, the country superstar gets back to business---with baby on board. .Shania says of her pregnancy, and on the  birth of her son, Eja: 

In august 2001, while writing songs for Up! Twain and Lange had a baby boy Eja. Her pregnancy had been so smooth that Twain hardly felt like a mother to be. "It was really nothing: she says "I didn't eat differently. No morning sickness. Nothing was different." Giving birth was also a breeze. "Labor?" It was painful, but not so painful". she says "I was very fast. From my very first labor pain to the time of delivery, it was five and half hours. Mutt was in the room. He was a great help. We were a team, and it was all very easy."

In this latest interview, Shania admits after the events of September 11th, she was not feeling to enthusiatic about making a new album.

But she admits calling the album Up was not how she initially felt.

"The 9/11 thing had happened and I was a new mother, Eja was only one month old and I was really thinking why even make an album?" she says.

"I was really discouraged, but Mutt changed my mind. He said that the music I've always brought to people is the cheeky, fun, free-spirited music which is what people will appreciate.

"So there was no point trying to go in a different direction, so I snapped out of it and got back to the 'Shania' writing.

"And he was right, so I really tried to keep this album up and moving."

It has been announced that Shania will be performing on the TODAY show on November 26th in Rockefeller Plaza, as part of their concert series. This is a free performance. CountryStars.com is having a contest for VIP tickets to the event. Click HERE for Details.

0210.14-Shania's Family Ties [Countrystars]:

Shania Twain manages to keep her extended Canadian family members as close as she can, by flying them to her or going to where they are, back home in Canada.

"My family loves that. They love coming to visit," Twain told the Toronto Sun.

"'Cause I travel so much to work anyway, it doesn't really make a difference whether I'm flying them to L.A. or I bring them to Australia with me, whatever," says Twain, who says they often come for two- or three-week stretches at a time to Switzerland.

"My work takes me everywhere, so it's just as easy to fly them to me when I'm home in Switzerland. The traveling's not a big issue. You have to realize, it's just not." Helping matters is the fact that Twain also owns a cottage just south of Timmins.

"When I go home to visit them, I have a cottage up north. I like going there. We have a cottage compound. We all just come and go from there."

0210.12-Twain gets good chart action:[CMT]

When Shania Twain gets America's attention, she gets it good.
"I'm Gonna Getcha Good!" -- the first single from Twain's soon-to-be-released album Up! -- debuts this week at No. 24 on Billboard's Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart. In doing so, she becomes one of only three artists -- and the only female -- to debut in the top 25 during the 12 years the trade publication has based its charts on monitored radio airplay.
Twain's achievement places her in an elite club that includes Garth Brooks and Alan Jackson. According to Billboard, Brooks debuted at No. 19 with his 1991 single "The Thunder Rolls" and Alan Jackson debuted at No. 25 in 2001 with "Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)."

Shania Twain's single that debuted Thursday and Friday just became the highest female debut on the Billboard chart with "I'm Gonna Getcha Good" slamming in at #24. Shania Twain fans worldwide anticipate possible hometown visit

Shania Twain has gotten her fans good with the Friday release of a single from her new album Up!


Employees at both the local country music radio station and the Shania Twain Centre have been busy fielding calls from excited fans immediately following the Oct. 4 release of her latest single.


Titled "I'm Gonna Getcha Good," Twain's single has been making waves worldwide and Timmins is now awash with calls from excited fans.
The Shania Twain Centre has gotten its fair share of calls and e-mails from people who enjoyed the new single, said Tracy Hautanen, customer service manager at the Shania Twain Centre.


Based on the attention the single is receiving, there are "a lot of die-hard Shania Twain fans out there," Hautanen said.
"There was one gentleman in particular from Arkansas who was very upset that he'd missed the song's premier," she said.
"He had been trying to hear it on the radio all day, but kept missing it - so he called the centre, and feeling sorry for him, I played it to him over the phone."
Calls have come from as far as Scotland from ecstatic fans to the centre at a consistent rate, said Hautanen.


"Many of the calls are from excited fans who want the single after hearing it on the radio," she said.
"And because we are the Shania Twain Centre, they think we have the inside scoop and be able to sell them the album before it hits the stores."
Moose FM. has also been keeping fans happy by giving the new release lots of airtime.
"We played the song every hour since we acquired the the single over the weekend," said Gord Norris, afternoon drive host for Moose FM.


"We've now moved it into our normal rotation."


Norris described the new single as being similar in sound to her previous album Come on Over.
"It is not as pop sounding as some people have expected it to be," he said.


There is no new information on whether Shania Twain will be visiting Timmins in the future.
"However, people have been speculating about a possible trip she may make here since she gave an exclusive interview to (a Toronto newspaper,)" Hautanen said.
According to the official Shania Twain Web site, Twain is being kept busy in Europe. On Oct 11, an exclusive Country Music Television (CMT) special will be hosted by Katie Cook.
The CMT special is entitled, Shania in London: Making the Video.
Cook is to visit Twain and crew on the set of her new video.


The exclusive will air Friday at 10 p.m.

Is there much pressure after a 34 million album? Shortly said: No! "I'm not at all anxious or doubtful concerning the success of the new album. I don't convulsively try to sell more as 'Come On Over'. I wish that the fans like my music; I want to know what people think about the new work. I'm looking forward to hear the feedback."

Exactly for this reason the only direction where Shania Twain will go - even if she's already part of the music-world's elite - is upwards, "UP!” Because she almost totally achieved the creative goals before the long player is sold at all. As reported on CMT Canada:

The time has finally come for fresh, new SHANIA TWAIN on video to hit the airwaves on CMT. You have the chance to catch Shania’s first video from “Up!”, “I’m Gonna Getcha Good!”, for the first time on “Most Wanted Live” beginning at 7 PM EST, Friday night, October 4th, right here on CMT. The full details of the look and concept of the video are not yet known but Shania has been dropping some tidbits about the video leading up to its release. She said, “’I’m Gonna Getcha Good!’ will be something different, something I’ve never done before. There will be animation – very futuristic, and there’s an edge to it. It will keep you a little bit on the edge of your seat. It’s more of an action video, so it’s different for me. There are two personalities in the video. One is sort of the Shania and the other person is kind of the superhero.” Sounds intriguing. Once again, look for the new Shania video to premiere on Friday night, October 4th, along with an exciting CMT announcement about Shania! CMT’s ELISSA LANSDELL will have all the details for you during MWL on Friday night.
