is Shania [launch]:
Twain's new video promises to again raise the bar for music videos. "'I'm
Gonna Getcha Good!' will be something different, something I've never done
before," Twain told CMT. "There will be animation--very futuristic, and
there's an edge to it. It will keep you a little bit on the edge of your
seat. It's more of an action video, so it's different for me. There are two
personalities in the video. One is sort of the Shania and the other person
is kind of the superhero."

the CMT Press release...."Videos have been huge in my career," Shania

0209.27-Shania
talks about motherhood, and the reaons why she moved to Switzerland:
In an interview that appeared in the Toronto Sun, Shania talks about being a
mom, and her infant
son
Eja: Apart from moving to Europe, the second
biggest change in Twain's life in the past three years was becoming a mother
to Eja..."I think I'm more emotional since I've had the baby. I'm just more
sensitive," says Twain, who says the transition to motherhood has been
seamless. "I'm really enjoying it. He's a good baby, though. He's a very
sweet guy. He only fusses when he wants something specific. There's no
mystery to him at all. He's got so much love. He loves everybody around him,
very easy going. He's got such a placid nature -- like my husband." On
moving to Switzerland: At the time, when we were deciding where
to be, where to make our home, there was a lot going on. I was really having
a hard time finding privacy and solitude," Twain says. "Since I've been
here, I realize why Switzerland is so famous for that. People are very
discreet. They really play down the fact that they're amongst a celebrity.
There are many well-known people just in the general area." To

Shania interview to appear on CMT soon!![CMT]
Countrystars.com reports that, according to Entertainment Weekly, SHANIA
TWAIN’s new album could be one of the antidotes that the world could be
looking for to counteract all the tragic events and doom and gloom news
headlines that dominate our thoughts these days. EW says that, although the
album wasn’t inspired directly by recent times and events, Twain was
intentionally aiming for a ‘feel-good’ disc. Twain says, “It’s up and it’s
cheerful. We wanted to enjoy writing it. We wanted to feel up about the
whole thing. That’s why we ended up gearing everything towards a very
positive feeling.” Look for Shania Twain’s new album “Up!” to hit stores
on November 19th. CMT’s ELISSA LANSDELL nabbed an opportunity to chat with
the Canadian superstar on her home turf in Switzerland recently and we’ll
have news on when you can see that interview very soon. Look for updates
right here on CMT Buzz.
0209.23-Twain's album, antidote for toxic times.[Countrystars]
Take a look at the headlines today and it's obvious we're living in toxic
times for the soul: Image after image of child abuse, bus bombers, war in
the Holy Land, impending war in the Gulf again, terrorist alerts weekly,
stock market down, unemployment up, CEOs become "Robber Barons," enough
already, right?
According to Entertainment Weekly, Shania Twain's new album UP!, may be the
antidote to all these toxic times. Although the album wasn't inspired by the
times, Shania says she was definitely aiming for a feel-good CD.
"It's up and it's cheerful," she declares. "We wanted to enjoy writing it,
we wanted to feel up about the whole thing. That's why we ended up gearing
everything towards a very positive feeling."
She's also made it a double-barreled album again, "I know I have pop fans
and I know I have country fans. I want them both to be entertained by what
they're hearing."
0209.22-SHANIA GETS 3C
GOOD![3cRadio]
3cRadio
has posted the first review of Shania's brand new single, "I'm Gonna Getcha
Good", on their website!!!
If you’re a Shania fan,
you’re no doubt expecting this single to be good. Well, forget it…it’s
better than good, it’s magnificent! Although extremely catchy, the track is
also very complex in its construction. There are a number of different
sections, so the song never gets boring or repetitive......There are a few
seconds in “I’m Gonna Getcha Good” that will remind you of the “Come On
Over” album, but for the most part it sounds fresh and different. Needless
to say, it is punchy and extremely commercial. If the rest of the ”Up” album
is anything like this good, I think there is a good chance sales could match
or exceed those of “Come On Over”. They report that they will be
playing it as soon as Mercury gives them the green light. Stay tuned for
details!!!!

0209.20-Up!-"It’s
up and it’s cheerful," Shania explains
Countrynation.com reports:
According to Entertainment Weekly, Shania Twain’s album, UP!, due
November 19th, includes 19 songs, and judging from the tracks it previewed,
the material is... well.., up.
Pretty much
what Twain had in mind apparently. "It’s up and it’s cheerful," she
explains. "We wanted to enjoy writing it, we wanted to feel up about the
whole thing. That’s why we ended up gearing everything towards a very
positive feeling."
When it comes
to how the album stacks up musically, Twain states that she hopes to please
everyone. "I know I have pop fans and I know I have country fans. I want
them both to be entertained by what they’re hearing."
On another
Twain front, BBC news reports that she'll be among those giving master
classes to contestants seeking stardom on BBC One's new talent search, "Fame
Academy." The program, which launches next month, will give 12 wannabe
performers the chance to make it big. That's right. The British are every
bit as silly as we are
0209.20-Up!:More of that Unique Twain Country Pop Mix
The article from
Norway continues to spread around the internet,
CountryStars.com reports the following:
Beginning with her second album, Shania Twain delivered
a unique amalgam of pop and country tunes that kept her new sound
essentially country music. Soon the hit tunes from The Woman in Me drove the
album's sales through the roof. Come On Over was more of the same, only
better, and the rest is history. Question is, what's coming next? Shania
gave a recent interview to the Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet, and according
to descriptions of some of the cuts of the album the interviewer was able to
hear, UP! may have a similar mix of tunes.
"The title song ("UP!") translates to "large single
potential in a scant three minutes"..."Not Just a Pretty Face" is described
as "tasteful pop...(with) mild steel guitar"..."I'm Not in the Mood (to Say
No)" has a "melody [that's] wrapped up in a...Latin arrangement." "Forever
and for Always" is said to be a "rock ballad (with)...a beautiful country
refrain"...while "Thank You Baby! (For Makin' Someday Come So Soon)" is
described as a "straight-on pop record that could've come from 1986." (from
Dagbladet comments re-printed by MJI). Album in stores Nov. 19th.

0209.17-OFFICIAL FROM MERCURY!!!
Shania's New Album UP! To Be Released
NOVEMBER 19th
Okay fans, it's official -- Shania Twain's new record UP! will be released
in stores on NOVEMBER 19th! The album, produced by Mutt Lange, includes all
songs written by Twain and Lange. UP! marks the first record since the
unbridled success of 1997's Come On Over. Come On Over continues to shatter
music industry records; the album is now the highest-selling release since
the inception of SoundScan and the best-selling album ever by a female
artist in the U.S., at a staggering 19 million units.
0209.17-You
didn't really get our all, if you will." [Countrystars]
Shania Twain told a Norwegian newspaper that she isn't
concerned with trying to top herself with her new album UP! That might be a
safe thing to say since topping two albums, THE WOMAN IN ME or COME ON OVER,
that account for nearly all of her 50 million worldwide albums sold so far,
might not be possible.
BUT THEN, back in 1996, Shania predicted that her new album Come On Over,
would top The Woman in Me. That seemed impossible at the time since The
Woman in Me had sold about 7 million copies. But Shania said that since she
and Mutt Lange had jut hit their stride working on Come on Over. "The first
album we did together, The Woman In Me, that effort is a little, has a
little bit more hesitation to it. You didn't really get our all, if you
will."
MEANWHILE Shania to coach contestants in an BBC version of "American Idol."
Shania Twain, Enrique Iglesias and Anastacia are among the experts who will
give master-classes to pop wannabes for the BBC's new talent hunt "Fame
Academy." Viewers will watch a dozen hopeful singers go through their paces
in a mansion as they prepare for a competition that will result in
management deals and record contracts, etc. Shania will conduct Master
classes to help certain contestants prepare
0209.17-Album
Recorded in 7 Countries[92.3WCOL]
Shania
Twain toured the world as she recorded her new CD "Up!". According to
countrynation.com and Westwood One, Twain recorded the album in studios in
Germany, Italy, Austria, France, Ireland, India and the Caribbean.
Twain made the recordings before and afer she gave birth to her son. Twain
and her husband-producer Robert Mutt Lange made much of the trip by train
and car; she didn't want to fly while she was pregnant. "Up!" will be
Twain's first new album since 1997's "Come on Over" which sold 34 million
copies. All together, Twain's albums have sold some 50 million copies. Twain
will be one of the live performers in November's nationally televised 36th
annual CMA awards.

Shania Twain has revealed

the disc was recorded in France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Austria, India
and parts of the Caribbean, during her pregnancy and after her son was
born. Meanwhile, Shania will be among the recording artists who'll

0209.14-Up!-Twang
and Bang:
Shania in Latest edition of Entertainment Weekly[09/20/02]!!
"In
praise of the tortoise". Shania has spent the last
two years shoring up her strength as a commercial colossus. In 1999,
Shania and her recluse husband Mutt Lange, moved to Switzerland, where they
had a baby last year [son, Eja], and tinkered away at their next twang and
bang manifesto. Up! should be released on November 19th. There are rumors
that the album could possibly be delayed until 2003. The delay could
possibly be caused due to Shania's recent management change, and a
too-rich profusion of material. Twain says "Up! might have 19 tracks, with
different versions (glossy globe-country, bright super trampy arena pop)
engineered for different world markets.) "I know I have pop fans. I know I
have country fans, " Twain says "I want them both to be entertained by
what they are hearing."

0209.13-Shania at the
crossroads: [USATODAY]:
Shania Twain
Up!, Nov. 12
The numbers: Come on Over
(1997), 19 million
The challenge: Following the
best-selling album ever by a female artist.
The stakes: That spot right above
Thriller looks mighty appealing, if Twain can expand her country and
pop-crossover audiences.
The goods: For someone who releases
albums only every five years, Twain certainly doesn't skimp on material.
Early reports give Up! 19 tracks, and at least one mix for country fans and
one for pop might be available on the initial release date. More important —
what did having a baby do to that famous midriff?
The outlook: One of the flat-out
smartest women in showbiz, Twain is developing a history of making critics
and naysayer eat their words — nicely, of course. Don't bet against her.

Ultimate Role Model: [canada.com]

"Where
would things be if Shania hadn't been here?" she asks. "I think she helped
country music. I have so many friends that never liked country music until

better.
"She added attitude."

perform on the Country Music Assoc. Award Show
Shania's first
Television Network appearance in the United States, will be on the Country
Music Association' award show on November 6th [CBS 8pm-11pm]
From the
CMA Press Release :
International
superstar and CMA Entertainer of the Year (1999) Shania Twain makes her
much-anticipated return to the CMA Awards in 2002 – with her first network
television performance since 1999. Twain will perform new music from her
soon-to-be released fourth album UP!. Twain’s last project, Come On
Over, was released in 1997 and combined with her self-titled debut in 1993
and the Woman in Me in 1995 her albums have sold more than 50 million copies
– more than any other woman in Country Music history. A dominant figure on
both the Country and pop landscape, Twain took time off during much of the
past two years to give birth to her son, Eja, as well as write and record
her new album with husband/producer Robert John “Mutt” Lange.
From
CMT Canada:
Just on the heels of Canada’s biggest night in country music, our biggest
Canadian country star, SHANIA TWAIN, has been named among the performers for
November’s CMA Awards. For her first television performance since 1999,
Shania will undoubtedly be showcasing material from her upcoming fourth
album for Mercury Nashville, “Up!”, when she takes the CMA stage. The
release of “Up!” has been delayed by a week to November 19th according to
www.countrynow.com. Keep on the lookout for a very special interview
that CMT’s ELISSA LANSDELL did with Shania in France, coming soon to
CMT.
From
The Tennessean:
That's right, Shania Twain will make her first national TV appearance in
three years at this year's Country Music Association Awards show Nov. 6 at
the Grand Ole Opry House. Yummy!
Shania will shimmy through something sex-sational from her upcoming album,

sneak backstage to do interviews there? Will Shania get a zit?
0209.08-Up!, written
and recorded on the road
[from countrynation.com]
After a couple of years off, Shania Twain is jumping back into the eye of
the hurricane, talking to the press about the birth of her son, Eja, her new
album, UP!, and more.
According to Westwood One, Twain tells the Norwegian newspaper, Dagbladet,
that she isn’t concerned about her new project breaking the records she set
with her album, Come On Over, saying that the biggest goal she’s had with
any of her projects is that fans don’t walk away feeling cheated.
UP! was recorded just about everywhere but Boise, Idaho. Studio stops
included Ireland, Germany, Italy, Austria and France, plus the Caribbean and
India, both while pregnant -- and after giving birth to her son. "I didn’t
want to fly while I was pregnant, so we traveled around Europe by train and
car, wrote songs, hired studios and found musicians that we wanted to work
with," says Twain.
Twain also reveals that she and her husband/producer, 'Mutt' Lange, brought
Eja along to the Caribbean. "I didn’t record the vocals on the album until
after the delivery, so he was with me in the studio. He slept while I sang,
or I took care of him in between tapings. He even got to swim in the ocean,"
she states.
Partial Track Listing from "Up!": This also appeared in the
Norwegian newspaper,
Dagbladet:
[translation from the
STNAOFC]:
Here is an English
translation of the Norwegian review of the
tracks on "Up":
MONTREUX (Dagbladet):
It's not much country and a lot of 80's sound on Shania Twains forthcoming
album «Up!». Dagbladet has heard 11 of the songs that will appear on the
album, that is set for release on November 18.
«I'm Gonna Getcha Good!»
The first single. A well-written, 80's smelling power pop song with a catchy
chorus. Radio and video premiere on October 8.
«Not Just A Pretty Face»
A rare example of country clarity. A soft-sounding steel guitar is cruising
under this mid-tempo and tasteful pop song.
«I'm Not In The Mood (To Say No)»
Classic Mutt Lange heavy rock in the intro. A few weird production tricks
are obstructing this melodically smart song from being a safe hit.
«Juanita»
A rather boring melody dressed in a typically market-friendly Latino
arrangement.
«Ka-Ching»
Untypical Shania song. Start-stop, hip hop/r&b-inspired rhythm track and
dramatic strings. About shopping.
«Up!»
Great single potential in this just short of three minute long title track,
that combines a 50's pop country melody with synthetic 80's sound, heavy
riffs and a great chorus.
«Forever And For Always»
A well-made classic rock ballad with laidback production and a beautiful,
country-style chorus.
«I'm Jealous»
A power ballad with Bruce Hornsby-style piano parts.
«Waiter! Bring Me Water!»
Here Shania sounds like Britney's aunt. Computer game-like noises,
oriental-inspired sound, but no hit song.
«Nah!»
A song that sounds a lot like ABBA, with a chorus with a lot of words and a
nice «na na na» lift at the end.
«Thank You Baby! (For Makin' Someday Come So Soon»:
A straight forward pop song that might as well could have come out in 1986.
