0803.13-Shania's new walking track [various articles]:

Shania Twain joined Prime Minister Helen Clark at the opening of a tramping track across the Canadian singer's property in the Otago high country today. The Motatapu track runs between Wanaka and Arrowtown, with about half of it on Twain's land. Providing the track was a condition imposed on Twain and her husband Mutt Lange when they bought the Motatapu and Mt Soho Station pastoral leases in 2004. Twain walked over a small section of the track with Miss Clark and Conservation Minister Steve Chadwick today. "I'm very proud," Twain said. "It's lovely. I'm enjoying myself. I'm having a great time," she told reporters.  Twain and Lange have since worked with the Department of Conservation to build huts and other facilities on the track which will be managed by DOC. Miss Clark said the track was the first back country section of the Te Araroa public walkway to open in the South Island.  "The opening of this track is another step towards our vision for a pathway throughout New Zealand, from Cape Reinga to Bluff, enabling the length of our country in all diversity to be travelled by foot," she said.  "This is a challenging tramping track, passing through Otago's golden tussock and beech forest, alongside burns with stunning alpine views." The track opens to the public tomorrow. "I think Shania Twain and her husband have set a whole new benchmark for what can be achieved with a change of ownership," Miss Clark told TV3. Both her label and management responded to a recent rumor posted by On-Demand, stating that a May release for Twain was "false." A spokesperson from Q-Prime Management said "she is still writing and has not recorded. At this time, we have no time-line for any release."

Country On Demand is reporting the following: A report published by UMG Spain, highlighting major releases for the 2008 season, lists superstar Shania Twain as releasing her highly-anticipated album in May. The report states, "After five years without a studio album release, the world-best seller is back with an all-new album." The album is slated for a May 13 release date.  No title or further information has been given. Due to the Christmas and New Year holidays, representatives at UMG Nashville are unavailable for comment. Rumors of this appearance have floated around the net, but no one posted any real news from this event. However, back in July 2007 two pictures were posted on the net, go here to read the blog post.  Shania Twain was the first to ride a her beautiful horse into the Paris Hotel and Casino Convention Center. Shania was promoting her new perfume.

Shania Twain, who has spent the past five years out of the spotlight, says she is ready to resume her career.  In the December issue of Redbook, she talks candidly about the issues she's confronted in the last few years. "I struggled a lot internally with my fame, and coping with it has been very difficult," she says. "I was at the point where I would never look anyone in the eye. It was like living in prison."  After retreating to her chateau in Switzerland with her husband and son, Shania is about to re-emerge. In addition to being mom to her 6-year-old, promoting a new perfume and working on an album due that's due out next year, she says she's learning to take care of herself. "I'm not such a slave to pleasing everyone, which I think is a female tendency." she says. "I take more time for myself; that's a very big part of mental, emotional and physical health."  As for getting back into public life, Shania says, "I'm not naturally a spotlight person...[but] I don't mind being the center of attention in a controlled, comfortable environment." She adds that music is an integral part of her life, and she wants "to write and record things that affect people in a positive way." So what does the future hold? She jokes, "I'll probably be in the Canadian wilderness somewhere."

I was performing on a stage that had a rotating platform, and when I stepped off of it onto solid ground, I fell right on my butt! To make matters worse, the audience got to see it happening larger than life on the Jumbotron screen! I got up, brushed myself off, and asked, "Did you all catch that?" -- then had the stage technicians replay the scene for anyone who missed it.

Others, like Twain, did her part of the duet on You Needed Me, from New Zealand. "Shania Twain was the easiest person to get to," said Murray. "Trying to put something like this together is a logistical nightmare. I got her e-mail address, (Murray's manager) Bruce Allen, I guess, got it through (Twain's husband) Mutt Lange. I e-mailed her one day and said, 'Would you be interested in being on this CD?' And she wrote back and said, 'Would I?' And that was it. I sent her all the songs and I asked her what she wanted to sing and she chose, of course, probably the best song."

Billionaire Mutt Lange married his Nashville investment and made Shania Twain a household word all over the world, after meeting her at the CMA Music Festival during Fan Fair.

Shopping till she was dropping in Toronto last week was Shania Twain. Missing, we think, only Winners while on a Bloor West hee-haw that took more than a day. Stopping, we know, at Fresh in The Annex to gather her retail strength. Helping herself to the banana nut pancakes -- can you sing Whose Bed Have your Banana Nut Pancakes Been Under? -- Twain also had the ginger tea. More intriguing still? The woman who is the most exquisite combo of New Country and nouveau riche, and is, moreover, a vegetarian, asked to speak to the owner of the place. Alas, the owner was nowhere to be found. Now, my sources tell me, Ruth Tal, who is that very proprietor and is virtually vegan royalty in this city, is just restless with curiosity. "I will forever wonder what it is Shania wanted to say," is what Tal has been telling friends. Also, while Shania was in Toronto, she stopped by  a Look Good Feel Better workshop. These sorts of sessions are designed to help women manage the appearance-related side effects of cancer. On E!Talk Shania mentioned that she would like the next album to be completed in 2008. Her exact quote "There have been rumors about that. I wouldn’t say that’s going to happen. I don’t know when. I’d like to see it happening in 2008. I just…I got a lot of work to do still.".  Shania also mentioned, "I’m going very much in the direction…I would say staying in the same direction, but stronger. Uh, from the perspective of independence, female strength. There’s just no way of avoiding it at this point in my life [yells in that laughing sort of way she always does when joking] I just gotta go there! I just gotta carry-on going there! Shania also stopped by Entertainment Tonight Canada, where she talked about her new perfume, working on her new album, and her success. Another part of this interview will appear on Monday's show.

Here is an excerpt: The Centre also works hard to follow in the footsteps of the woman whom it immortalizes by giving back to the community. Tracy is proud to "reflect Shania as best as we can. We have to understand again and again how fortunate we are that she is so supportive as far as sending all her stuff our way. We can't jeopardize that. This is the best representation of Shania we can do, and she's put her stamp of approval on [the Centre], so we need to continue that way, and make sure that all the good things she does are shown here."  During the Fan Conventions held each year, Tracy holds a Shania auction to raise money for the exhibits. She says the proceeds have gone to fund exhibits such as the Maple Leaf Hotel. But the fans also do their best to give back, and that too, is important to the manager, who reports, " What does happen when the fans are here is that they do a side collection for the local food bank, because they know that's one of the charities in town that Shania supports, so the food bank benefits from the convention." The Centre also gives back by charging canned goods to admissions to some of its events and by giving school choirs the chance to get a little extra time in the spotlight.

Star Magazine paraphrases an interview Shania seems to have done for Women's Wear Daily, so take this with a grain of salt.  Shania Twain has teamed up with Coty for the second time to launch her second perfume, Shania Starlight by Stetson. “I enjoyed the first experience so much that I wanted to do it again,” Shania Twain told Women's Wear Daily of the perfume which hits stores in September. “The fragrance has a sense of maturity, while being sexier and more sensual. I want women to feel luxurious and glamorous while wearing it.”  The second fragrance will show off the different side of Twain, not so closely associated with country music, Coty executives hope. Developed by Givaudan’s Caroline Sabas, the fragrance is described as a “fruity floral” scent and carries hints of everything from mandarin and lemon, apple blossom and white freesia to jasmine, cashmere woods, and musk. “This has a more elaborate olfactory structure, with floral fruity notes which create a more energetic and sparking feel that’s directly linked to the concept of starlight,” Steve Morris, senior vice president of global marketing for Coty Beauty said to WWD. Though creating such a complex fragrance can be difficult, Twain admits she especially enjoyed smelling the different scents. “The freesia note gives it a femininity, while citrusy note like mandarin give it an energetic bold,” said Twain. “The blend of amber with musk makes it more romantic.”  Industry experts expect Coty to support the launch with a $10 million print and television campaign, while Coty is working with Twain’s record label, Mercury Records, on CD tie-ins. As for Twains’ CD, she confesses, “I want to come back with a very positive impact. My career is music, so if I can’t focus and write, I have nothing to revolve the rest of my career around. I’m putting together a diary about a new chapter in my life that I’m about to share, and I might write a little more about my own struggles.”

Shania Twain was hobnobbing with the truly royal when she visited Monaco for the World Music Awards and met Prince Albert, son of Princess Grace. Country Weekly caught up with Shania for this important event in our June 4, 1996 issue, and Shania told us that she was proud to serve as an ambassador for American country music. "Country music here in Monaco is not really as popular as pop music is," she noted. "Maybe the fact that the music I'll perform has a pop sensibility to it will help people realize that country music isn't necessarily what they think it is." Shania was named World's Best-Selling Country Female Artist.

CMT USA "Insider" broadcast this past weekend their ACM Wrap up show, and had a short interview with Shania on the Orange Carpet. Shania said the following:  I'm full on songwriting at the moment. So I'm really enjoying that. On the Orange Carpet at the 42nd Annual ACM Awards Shania said she is in songwriting mode, and that she is working on a new album which should be ready next year. "I'm enjoying the songwriting part of it. There's a lot of reflection involved when I'm putting songs together...but I do look forward to going back out."  "We haven't even decided where we're to go record it yet...We're putting some demos together. I'm working really hard on the lyrics. I want to be as true to myself as possible, well completely true to myself with the lyrics. It takes a lot of thought."

According to a press release posted by a fan on the Shania Boards, Shania is scheduled to attend the ACM Awards Show in Las Vegas on May 15th. The show will be broadcast on CBS and starts at 8pm. Shania ranks 56 on FHM Magazine's 100 Sexiest Women of 2007 list. Shania is the oldest woman on the list. FHM says "One of the highest-selling recording artists of all-time and the woman who brought sex appeal to country music, Shania hasn’t done much in the past few years, but she’s still as popular as ever" Congratulations Shania!!
