They began the
segment with showing "TDIMM" video and Star Jones introduced her
saying, "That is Shania Twain singing her hit "That don't impress me
much", but how about this for impressive, she holds the record for the
best selling album by a female EVER! She has racked up over 40 million
dollars in record sales and her new album UP has already sold 7
million copies, Please Welcome Shania Twain."
Shania walked out smiling and waving to the crowd wearing a denim
jacket, black pants, and those HIGH heels. Her hair is pulled back and
she looks happy and beautiful as always. She kisses all the hosts on
the cheek and sits in the middle.
Joy asks, "Was that you yelling back there when you heard 40 million?"
Shania gives a cute face and says, "Probably" they all laugh).
Star says.....take that Britney Spears!
Star asks, that outfit you were wearing in that video, was that Marc
Bouwer? Shania says yes it was. Star tells a story about how Marc does
so many things for Shania, saying, "she looks hot on the point,
beautiful, beautiful. Marc has done two of her dresses for the Emmys
and that body and this body-same designer, he must be really good"
they all laugh).
Star says, "you know you have to be one of my very favorite artists,
you should know that. Shania gives this WOW look and says Thank you.
Star continues, you make good music your a smart girl, you were
packing them in when you left on a personal hiatus and moved to
Switzerland. What was that about, just leave in the middle of all of
this?
Shania laughs and says, well it's a great parallel to Canada, actually
because there are allot of small lakes. I like snowy winters and I am
a sweater and hot chocolate girl....
Star interrupts and says, but I mean height, success, way up here-3
yrs ago and bye?
Shania laughs and says, well you know I had been on tour for almost 2
years. I was very tired and success isn't everything, you need to have
a life too, and I wanted to have a child. I'm a homebody and love to
cook....(crowd applauds, and Joy says good for you).
Guest host MARIA) says, you certainly were not concerned about losing
your success, you were secure in yourself?
Shania says, you do at one point say how much more do I want and what
is most important to me. It's not money, it's not success and you just
have to make those decisions.
Meredith says, it's Mutt and Eja, your husband and your son. Shania
says yeah, it's Mutt and Eja. Meredith continues, your husband Mutt is
a producer and he is somebody that totally shuns publicity, doesn't
like his picture taken, very, very private and here you are the
superstar, so how do you make that marriage work?
Shania responds, well we respect each others choices professionally. I
think respect is the biggest key to success in a marriage, and that
makes for a very good working relationship, were compatible in so many
ways. We just happen to agree when it comes to those decisions.
Joy says, there's something about you, when I was reading about you,
you're not exactly what you appear to be, is what were getting here.
You're a little home-body, one minute you're in a leopard outfit..la
la la, and the next you're mommy drinking hot chocolate(everyone
laughs).
Shania says, that's a good point because if I look back on my child
hood and the way I was then, I've always been actually a quite a shy
person, in a sense very introverted in allot of ways. I think that is
why I get so much out of my songwriting, because I put my personality
more in my songwriting than anything. When I was a kid I played dress
up allot and sang in front of the mirror like allot of people do, and
that's what I kind of feel like I'm doing now. I'm just getting into
that role dressing up (they show clip of MIFLAW).
Joy says, that's what makes you a creative talent, but was there some
other profession you would have picked if you were not in this?
Shania says, I would have probably been a veterinarian. I love animals
and I love care taking.
Joy says, is that why your husbands name is Mutt?(Shania and all have
a big laugh) Shania points at Joy and says your to quick for me this
morning.
Maria asks, with all the Mutt talk, you don't call him Mutt though?
Shania says, No I don't, I never could...Joy interrupts and says she
calls him Monglo(they all laugh). "I just call him love", says Shania.
Joy continues and says, you love him, you love him! Shania says, yes I
do love him of course I do, yeah.
Star says, its so nice to see somebody when you mention their husbands
name and you see a sparkle go in their eyes. "He's a beautiful
person," Shania says with a sparkle in her eyes.
Star asks, you know your cd is on track to become another huge hit and
you actually say this is you best work?
"I think its my personal best....ummm. I can't speak for the fans
right, I don't know if that is my best (Fans applauded and cheer
loud). Are you kidding, they love it, says Joy. It's awesome says Star
over the crowds cheers.
Joy says, it sounds like you enjoy being a mom....I read that you and
Celine Dion would call each other on the phone. What were you
discussing, breastfeeding? (ALL LAUGH)
Shania says, well we both did nurse and both of us had problems
getting them to sleep through the night, so we would talk about that
quite a bit, you know how to manage ....it took a long time. Meredith
says, sing to them! Shania says, Nooooo...it would keep them
awake(laughs). It was difficult but were through that now-Thankfully.
Star says, well u know were all glad you're here, but I have a bone to
pick with you. Next time you come, I want the band and I want you
singing(they all agree and the crowd cheers). Shania claps her hands
together and says, OK.
Star ends the show by saying, I started the show by saying you sold 40
million albums but with this new cd, that number is just going to go
up. Our thanks to Shania Twain, her new cd called UP is available in
stores now.(APPLAUDES and CHEERS)
**I thought the show was pretty good, especially when they talked
about MUTT and EJA. Seeing the sparkle and happiness in Shania's face
was priceless. It seems they were all big fans of Shania, especially
STAR.
